"Cats" movie gets a thumbs down from "The View" |
This is why I hate talk shows. They love to hate on things, but then the next time Taylor Swift or Jennifer Hudson come on they'll pretend (or admit) that they love it. I would have to imagine at least one of the actors will make an appearance on The View in the coming weeks to promote this.
They knew that they wouldn't be getting ANY of the Cats cast because its ABC affiliated and decided to crap all over it/
Never saw the show - and don't think it would be for me - I'm allergic to Cats.

Not entirely true. What they probably will do is talk about their experience in the movie, and ask questions about working on the movie, but they would stay clear away from discussing the movie as a whole itself. I've seen them do this before with movies, plays, and television shows. They know how to tap-dance around different things, without offending the guests.

Bouncing off of what you mention - I wonder if they were so disparaging of the movie (so early) because it is not a Disney movie, and it's actually competition for Disney this Christmas season (with their release of 'Frozen 2'
Of course, 'The View' is owned by Disney / ABC and plug every new Disney product every chance they get.

The musical is much more sophisticated than some people realize. When I first saw it on Broadway, I thought I liked it least of all the Lloyd-Webber musicals I had seen ( almost all of his work)...until I began reading the original material which inspired the work, the poems of TS Eliot (". Old Possum's Book of Practical Cats (1939) is a collection of whimsical light poems by T. S. Eliot about feline psychology and sociology" ). The work is really a character study - substituting dancing cats for real-life characters represented in the poems. Dress them up in real people looks and with the same poems ( but rephrased a little to represent real people) - it does become an interesting light-hearted story of humankind in many of its variety.
And all this based on the trailer. It is not my favorite show and I don't plan to a theater to see the movie but this was ridiculous. They tore it down just to tear it down.Wondering if Farrow saw the show to have made the comment he did or did he just comment on the trailer. Glad Sunny stood up to the rest of them.

None of them saw the movie, just based their opinions on the trailer. Ronan sounded like he had seen the stage musical and didn’t like it at all.

They all said - except for one - they won’t be seeing the movie based on the trailer. Not exactly a thumbs up for the movie.
I hated it . A year or two later I thought I might have been having a bad day. So I went back to give it a second chance.
I hated it even more and myself for going back
.
I doubt I'll see the movie. I shall never understand why this show lasted so long.
So many loved it.
