Do broadway/oprea actors get royalties from the soundtrack? |
Cast albums are usually done on a single payout basis, cast members get a week's pay for showing up and recording, something like that -- exceptions are made with big stars, depending on contracts, and so on, who might get more frequent payouts. If something sells really well, there's sometimes a bonus at the 100,000 sales mark. Doesn't happen often.
I don't know how it works with opera recordings. Probably similarly. I imagine Pavarotti-level stars had something in their contracts.

Streaming platforms must pay per track stream according to contract; there's a minimum per song which of course is then divided between the people who are due royalties from sales [and, now streams].
