New B'way Gift Shop and Interior Tour

It's been a minute since I've jumped on here! I'm an actor and the owner of Broadway Up Close Walking Tours and while I posted more when I first started my company years ago, life has gotten crazy. I am super proud of our newest tour that we just unveiled, Hudson Up Close, and since you all are as obsessed with Broadway as I am, I wanted to drop some info over to you in the event that we aren't on your radar. And if you haven't physically been in Times Square over the past few months, you might not have seen our new gift shop of unique buttons, pins, t-shirts, totes, stickers (and more) that are all one-of-a-kind designs tailored to Broadway lovers. We are currently located in between 43rd and 44th Streets. And we have a 6 foot tall installation I created that spells out BROADWAY in marquee letters complete with 150 light bulbs. Make sure to stop by and say hi. And as a special "We love BroadwayWorld" - if you mention to my staff when you stop by that you heard about us from this post we'll give you a free gift.

Yes - it's all of our own designs embracing our Broadway niche. My favorite is our new t-shirts that spotlight the techies and stage managers of the world: one says "Thank You, Five!" and the other says "Spike It!". We have a few other custom items that are only available at the kiosk, but everything that's on our website is also available in person (and then you don't have to pay shipping!).

I’m a local NYCer and took a tour with Tim a couple weeks ago - the haunted Broadway tour. We were lucky enough to have Tim himself as our guide and the tour was super interesting and fun. I definitely want to take the Hudson tour in the near future, especially now that I know that a ghost light is!

Hey ModernMillie3 - Thanks for your nice words! We make every effort to get you onstage. With the current show, American Utopia, that has been feasible on almost every tour. With Plaza Suite in the spring it may be trickier, but we do our best to bring you as "up close" as possible to every nook and cranny of that building.

I wish your shirts ran in larger sizes. It is so difficult to find fun Broadway themed T-Shirts when one has a need for a 5XL, 6XL, or larger. :'(

Hi Tim,

The tour sounds like a lot of fun, but I probably won't be back in New York until spring next year. Is the Hudson tour something you think you'll be offering on an ongoing basis? (I can't remember who is currently in the Hudson, or who is scheduled to go in).

Kitsune - yes, as of now we have dates on the calendar until February. The next show that moves in is Plaza Suite, so we are just waiting on the schedule for technical rehearsals and what not. We should have that info for you available soon. But yes, we will have something for you when you join us in the spring!

This is great! Will certainly look to place an order as well as take a tour this coming February/Spring. Im likely catching Plaza Suite this February during its pre Broadway run in Boston, so getting to see any of that backstage after having seen the show would be truly amazing! I remember walking past the Hirschfeld this summer during Moulin Rouge load in, seeing through the wings onto the stage, even from the outside, was f'ing magical. Other than being an audience member, never been that close to being backstage on Broadway. Will be seeing you soon!

Just got back from the Times Square shop. Thanks for the free postcard! Grabbed the box of postcards to hang with some special lighting at home. A magnet and 2 buttons. Had to have the Audra and Super Bowl buttons! The two people working the shop were very nice!

Uncageg - glad you like the free gift and I hope you enjoy your Broadway goodies! My staff said they loved chatting with you too, so I'm glad you were able to stop by. Next time you'll have to join us for a full tour! 

Mike Barrett - I LOVE load-in and load-out of shows. We're hoping to be able to get backstage for Plaza Suite, but we won't fully know until the show is officially moved in. We'll get as up close and personal with it regardless, so I can't wait for you to join us then.

Your staff mentioned the tour! 

I really like the post cards. Nice that they are not like digital pics but look a bit like older post cards. The deep/bold colors are really cool and I like the brief history of each theater on the back. I nice mixture of current marquees and recent ones.
