Buying tix on StubHub#1
Posted: 11/5/19 at 10:30pm

I've never bought tickets on StubHub before.  I really want to see Little Shop of Horrors but there are no tickets available for my dates on Telecharge.  There are some on StubHub for a premium of course which  I don't mind paying, but is this site legit?  Are there any other secure ways of getting tickets?

Thanks in advance!

Yes, the show has been sold for weeks, so your only chance other than rush, is to buy tix from the scalpers on a site like stubhub.

Ive never used them, but people say they are reliable and theyll take care of you should the tix be fake.

To echo the previous post, StubHub is legit.  I purchased two orchestra seat tixs to Dear Evan Hansen  from them a few weeks ago.  Great seats but I REALLY hated how high the fees were for the show.  Price for the seat was $62 each which was a steal.  However, fees amounted to + $47 ($23ish each) which really sucked.  In a pinch, they can offer competitive prices on seating right before the show begins but the fees are absolutely absurd.  Just calculate that into your costs.

BTW, also had to pick up the tixs from their storefront location in Times Sq a few blocks away.  Wasn't ideal if you're running up against the clock.  Would have preferred they offer digital tixs.

I also used TickPick earlier in the year.   TickPick charges no additional fees, so the price that you see is the price that you pay.

Yes it’s legit. Used it multiple times. But adding on, fees are ridiculous. $20 average just for the fees.

Totally legit. I often stalk StubHub just bc you never know what might pop up. I bought tickets to Hamilton 2 days before the show--5th row, right orchestra, $195/ticket. Even with fees, it was less than $225 a ticket (which I consider an absolute steal for Hamilton, esp. given our seats). I only use Stub Hub for mobile transfers--makes me too nervous to think about having to pick up the tix in person. I don't find their fees that bad compared to other sites (thinking specifically of Broadway.com--we had to buy there bc we had gift certs and the fees were over $57/ticket, ridiculous)!

Stubhub is completely legit. I have bought and sold tickets through them for theatre, sporting events, music concerts, etc.

When you search for tickets, their system’s default feature is to show you prices without their fees, so if you proceed to actually buying something double check the price before you click accept because their default is to add their fees in at the very end.

You can adjust the settings to view ticket prices with their fees included but you have to change that in the search features otherwise it will display prices without fees and you will think, hey, that’s not too bad and then you go to checkout and it’s $100 bucks more, so be careful.

But otherwise, their inventory is legit. Look for tickets that have immediate download as well.

Been around for almost 20 years. Fees are high but totally legit. Twice over the years I had a problem with the seller delivering the tickets. Both times they replaced them with other seats that were better than what I had bought at no additional cost.

yes - i just looked at one ticket and it was listed for $390 and then there was a $100 service fee added.  it came to $499 after everything.  I've never paid this much for any show - not even Hamilton.   I'm really unsure on this.  I'd be coming in from across the country and would be devastated if it turned out not to be a legit ticket.

I'm also noticing that its nearly impossible to get a single ticket.  There mostly all grouped in twos.

Little Shop is great, but I wouldn’t recommend paying $390+ for it. I’d watch and see if tickets tend to be available same day and if prices go down then. That’s true of many shows, but not sure about LSOH since it’s such a small theatre and demand is so high.

For Moulin Rouge I just stood in line and bought a ticket at 7:58pm, and downloaded it on my phone and walked in and sat down. I was waiting for the price to drop, and got a good seat for $60.

You can get really good deals at last minute from Stubhub. I got Center seats to Dolly with Bernadette for $50 each and then the people next to us got them for $40 cuz they bought them even later than I did. I got really good price at the last minute for DEH too.

I bought a ticket to Hadestown an hour before the show for a pretty good price and also just sold a ticket to Little Shop of Horrors as my schedule changed and couldn't make it (and sold not at a premium...).

As others mentioned, the fee is pretty bad but I think it's a pretty solid option.

I'd wait and do cancellation line and rush lottery at LSOH if you're concerned about fakes. Yes Stubhub is legit and I've used it before.

Monitor the prices and that will give you an idea of what you could expect day of.

I've seen LSOH range day of between $150 - $400 with a unicorn at $100 that I would have bought if I hadn't won the Moulin Rouge Lottery.

It's an incredibly small theatre combined with the popularity of the show as a cult classic and Groff as an incredibly talented and appealing lead.

If you are planning on coming to town anyway, I would just set out a few dates where you might have some flexibility to wait and if it doesn't work out, go to a plan B show. There are generally competitive prices for other shows on Stubhub or you can always swing up to TKTS last minute.

If you go in person to their brick and mortor store on 39th and Broadway, they give you 15% off your purchase (at least right now) and will print your tickets for you. I did this for Book of Mormon last week and ended up getting a partial view (but still really solid) orchestra seat for about $30/ticket fees included.

In the unlikely event you get a ticket that doesn't work, StubHub will either replace the ticket or issue a refund. For LSOH, it is unlikely they would be able to replace the ticket given the limited inventory, but I've never had an issue personally with a bad ticket.

As others have mentioned, totally legit, but high fees comparative to buying it initially on telecharge.
