I don't know how these things are supposed to go and I think "deer stands" seen unsportspersonlike, but if you go to check to make sure an animal you shot is dead, why do you leave your musket behind? If you find the animal is wounded and suffering, isn't the whole point that you bring your unfair advantage with you to put the animal out of its misery? I guess we'll never know.
I might sound cold hearted, but I do not feel sorry for the hunter. He chose to engage in the activity. He had more advantage on his end then the deer. He made a really stupid move and lost his like. Isn't that sort of the contract you sign when you hunt wild animals? I am happy when I see bull fighters lose. Unfortunately the bull loses as well.
