Surprised I haven't seen a post on this! Watched it today and really enjoyed it! Jessie Mueller and Megan Hilty were both fantastic and really wonderful together!
I can see how this material lends straight for the "lifetime" movie troupe but I thought that this was one of the better Lifetime productions I have seen! Lots of songs, locations and definitely some of the better acting!
I just finished watching. I thought the opposite. Megan was really good. Jessie, I thought, was only good in the musical numbers. Overall, it was lacking something. Maybe heart. I actually watched Coal Miner's Daughter over the weekend, for probably the 20th time. It's a movie I can watch over and over. I would never have the interest to watch this again. That script, sure painted a different picture of Doolittle Lynn and their marriage. I wonder what the truth is? Somebody on this board posted a while back that Loretta and Patsy really didn't have a close friendship like what was portrayed in Coal Miner's Daughter. You would never know that by this movie. It also didn't help that I saw the special edition version. In addition to the countless commercials, there were breaks with interviews from Jessie and Meagan. Dragged it out really long.
