If there are tickets sold to the public for opening night it won't be till much closer to the opening, not a year in advance.

I typically try to get my tix way in advance because of seat availability.... but you think it’s smarter to wait? Where should I get them?

You can't get them. If they release any to the general public, which they probably won't, it won't be until days before.

Opening night tickets for ANY show are not usually released to the general public. They are saved for VIPs. IF there are any left, they will be put on sale. While it COULD happen at any time, it likely will happen less than a month before.
If we're not having fun, then why are we doing it? These are DISCUSSION boards, not mutual admiration boards. Discussion only occurs when we are willing to hear what others are thinking, regardless of whether it is alignment to our own thoughts.

In the past I've found that any leftover opening night tickets go on sale the week before opening. These seats are usually in the balcony. All the better seats go to the producers, backers and cast.

With this being a Scott Rudin/Hugh Jackman production I doubt they will have any trouble filling those seats on opening night. I would not expect any tickets to appear on sale for the public.

While I have attended two opening nights, it was VERY last minute, and I think it was through either TodayTix or Telecharge. You just have to keep a close eye on the ticket selling websites. However, the show isn't opening for almost a year. It is WAY too early to think about even attempting to get an opening night ticket. Although, when they did the Mean Girls fan day performance on October 3rd, I hung around the theater and was able to get a ticket at the very last second, like minutes before the curtain went up, so...never...say...never? That wasn't opening night, but still...I do know someone who went to the Hadestown opening night...stranger things have happened. Just don't think about it now. It's way too early.
