Providence, Rhode Island. Seriously.
Agreed on Providence. Tons of great gay bars (maybe not "tons", but a few good ones at least) and a fabulous and diverse restaurant scene. Only a 50-60 min from Boston, driving is about the same time as well. Highly recommend.

If you choose to visit Providence, I'd also recommend including an ~ 40 minute sidetrip to Newport. I have no clue as to how much Gay culture there is, but as a Gay man, I LOVED sightseeing the mansions along the coastline, having a drink at one of the oldest bars in America (The White Horse Tavern) and the beauty of the town. I mean, c'mon...

If you look at a map, I think you'll find that statement to be true as well.

Ha! What I was trying to get at with my suggestion was a New England location with more of the sorts of attractions RippedMan mentioned in Philadelphia. If a diverse assortment of gay bars is part of what makes a good time for you, it's definitely Providence over Boston.
I just thought it was funny. I can’t really add to the suggestions as I haven’t been to Boston or DC in many, many years. But, back in the day I had memorable gay ole times in both! I’ll add Providence to my list when I’m on the East Coast. Sounds fun and interesting.
Providence????? I'm from Providence and my friends and I go to Boston and NYC for a great gay scene. Not much happening in Providence (just some old clubs with the usual faces) - at least not for us. Maybe the scene is not as jaded for visitors?
