I attended the finale of Seawall a life! It was great and their were a lot of people at stagedoor. Security said the guys were set to come out and then another security said that they werent coming. I stayed for a little while and in the front I waited. Jake came out and told me sorry he was in a rush. A bit disappointed since I assumed they would take the time to come out. But at the end of the day Im happy I was able to see him.

Glad I didn’t stay to stagedoor then. I had to rush over for meet n greet with Ben Platt (then they ran really late so I could’ve stayed awhile) so glad I didn’t try.

My actual review of final performance:

Saw Sea Wall/A Life for my matinee today followed by seeing Ben Platt At Radio City Music Hall.

Sea Wall/A Life - I definitely see why they paired these two one-acts together. Besides sharing similar themes, there are also some similarities in things that come up in both stories. And in the way the stories are told. Having said that, A Life resonated more with me than Sea Wall. That has nothing to do with Sturrdge’s performance. It was stellar. Sea Wall is just underwritten. A Life is the better written of the two and Gyllenhaal gives a bravura performance. I sobbed at least a couple times during it. I only bought the magnet.

I’ve been meaning to mention audience behavior in each show and I haven’t really done a good job of keeping up with that in my posts. The audience at the show was pretty disappointing. People taking flash photography during Sturrdge’s piece. Lady next to me refusing to turn her phone all the way off even though at this show, the ushers assertively tell your to turn it all the way off. She still refused despite me offering to help her do it and ladies next to me shaming her. Then when intermission was ending one lady in the orchestra (I was in front row of mezzanine) refused to get off the phone until act two actually started and I saw some people in the orchestra pull out their phones during the second act. I’m pretty sure I heard a phone once or twice too. Speaking of my seat - great view, not great legroom. Common theme this trip.

I agree with you. A Life was a better piece. And Jake was really good. I loved it whenever the audience had a good laugh at something funny that he did say or do because he seemed chuffed about it. Our audience seemed to be better behaved than yours. Only had one person try and take a pic when Jake first appeared and that was all.

At my performance, we had a phone ringing for several seconds during SeaWall.  An usher finally had to go over and address the person.  No picture taking, at least, that I noticed.  The problems I had with the play were with the play.  In both parts, I had problems hearing some lines.  The volume level, to me, was so low.  It was almost as if their mics weren't working.

I was there yesterday as well, and yeah, those flashes were annoying. Come on people, do you really need that picture of a bright white blob in front of darkness so badly?

During Jake's Siri moment, my friend and I thought we heard someone else's Siri respond over on house right. Did you hear the same?

Great show and I agree, A Life is the stronger of the two  :)

Bumping to mention that Jake was on Howard Stern yesterday - actually a great interview - and Howard brought up Jake's theatre work, and in passing, Jake mentioned that at some point they talked to him about reviving this show as part of Broadway coming back. Guess it didn't pan out, but that would've been great if they could've worked it out.

Jake is great with Howard, is really comfortable and loves to discuss acting and the business with him in a very accessible, humbling way. Last time I think he was on the show was five years ago, another fun interview. (He also briefly laugh-sings a duet of "Do You Love Me?" from Fiddler with Howard.)
