I got about 20mins in and just couldn't go any further. Maybe when the star guests appear it will elevate the production but ???
Ben Platt does not translate into the TV/movie medium at all well[I know he was in Pitch perfect].
There was no way he could carry off a neurotic, <<edited by BWW staff>> gay with all that running around in dreadful clothing, speaking so fast hardly a word was understood. Saying trying to act would be kind.
The whole thing[yes, only 20mins] was a total disaster.
I am not even curious to continue no matter how many beautiful topless men are included for no reason. a I definitely hope Mr Platt does not get to film DEH. 2 hours on the big screen of close ups and singing does not a pretty picture make.
Some people have a face for radio, Mr Platt belongs on stage and the concert platform-IMHO

PEOPLE COMPLAINED??? Did they even bother to look up the many meanings of the word and you even considered deleting the whole post for that ONE WORD.
Why the 'handful of complaints' went to the trouble to complain to the moderators[out of 44] and not ask ME what I meant by the word-which obviously 5 people have a different meaning for THAT WORD---I will never understand.
Get a grip people--Joan Rivers/Dame Edna/drag queens etc-they insult everyone. I'm describing a style of performance and some nellies go ape****e.
I just finished season one and I absolutely loved it. It’s not perfect but I thought it was a damn good time, and I thought the ending was unexpected and delightful, not to mention it raises the stakes for season two, which I’m definitely looking forward to watching if it gets made (seeing as Murphy has a contract with Netflix, I’d say it has a pretty good chance of continuing even if reviews aren’t as glowing as people would’ve hoped).
I loved the show. I wasn't expecting much (wasn't a big BP fan) but he totally won me over, and I thought this show was great. The only problem I had - and it's a minor one - was Jesscia Lange. She played the role as a character from AHS, and seemed out of place in this setting at times.
I thought the show was great. It was interesting to see Ben Platt play a charismatic egotistical character after being made famous for an introverted, psychologically understated character like Evan Hansen. Also, I'm pretty sure his rendition of Vienna made me roughly 5% less straight.
What I loved the most about this show was that it was the opposite of Thirteen Reasons Why (hear me out). TRW and The Politician are two shows that are about putting these young people in very adult situations. The difference is that TRW plays this dead serious, and The Politician plays it for comedy. Seeing these high school students basically living in the world of House of Cards is just so funny. Initially, I didn't understand the "Voter" episode, that centered around a character we never see again, watching the events of the main characters from a third person perspective. It was later that I realized this was a taste of the real world amidst all the absurdity of the premise. The character isn't pointless, he's the most realistically written character on the show.
Also, I wasn't always sold by Jessica Lange. It felt like she was doing an SNL parody of that Hulu show The Act.
I really liked it. I did feel initially on Episode 1 that we were getting DEH 2.0 from Platt, but that evened out over the episode and into the rest of the season. Pilot episodes often struggle to set an even tone as that are more often understandably trying to introduce characters and set plots on motion. I wasn’t sure how I felt after Episode 1, but I ended up sticking with it and liked it enough to binge the rest of the season within 24 hours including staying up til the wee hours to finish it.
