As it turns out, the best fashion statements are sung. Strutting an all-star team, including music by Tony Award winner Sir Elton John (Billy Elliot, Aida), lyrics by singer-songwriter Shaina Taub (Twelfth Night at The Public Theater), a book by Paul Rudnick (In & Out, Jeffrey), music supervision by Nadia DiGiallonardo (Waitress), and direction by Tony Award winner Anna D. The only casting in that lab that strikes me as truly exciting is Helene Yorke in the Emily Blunt role.

I've very glad to see that this production is being directed and music supervised by women.

For me, if you remove Meryl Streep from the equation, you’re not left with much to hang onto. Andy isn’t a particularly compelling character and much of the drama involving her boyfriend and friends is forced. Streep is what elevated the film to success (with some assist from Blunt and Tucci), so I’m having trouble picturing this property without her; what’s the point?

I just find the casting of Etai Benson as Nate so hysterically perfect and I’m not sure why.

A Christine Baranski Miranda would honestly be my dream.

This show is already getting hype from my friends. Their main question is if Meryl will reprise her role.

This will be playing Chicago the same time as SIX next year. I wonder if those two will bring tourists in.

Multiple Tony winner? Mark Rylance will be brilliant as Miranda!

Honestly, of all the names thrown around, Bernadette and Audra are the two who could take the character in a different direction than Streep.

I’m in the Donna Murphy or bust camp (not really, but sort of). She’s just ideal for the role, and she has such a knack for comedy, especially the kind of comedy that Streep refined so perfectly when she played the role. Ebersole was so incredible in GREY GARDENS, and yet I can’t see her pulling off the type of out-of-the-world genius turn that could turn this into an iconic performance. Christine Baranski would be perfect, but I doubt her GOOD FIGHT schedule would fit with a musical Broadway run (same for Audra, who is brilliant in that show by the way).

Aw, I’ll be disappointed if Emily Skinner doesn’t continue with it. She’s such an underrated talent.
