Jennifer Lopez in Hustlers |
I enjoy her movies. I would like to see this. I don't buy her music but will watch her movies. I love Maid in America.

I loved this movie more than I thought I would. It's a great story and Jennifer Lopez's performance was outstanding!
I honestly felt Constance Wu pretty much matched her, too. Really great peformances from both ladies. Highly recommend catching this drama.
Loved it! Wu had some moments where her delivery just fell flat for me, but overall she was very good. Lopez was commanding, charismatic, and nuanced all throughout. Would be happy to see her get nominated for this.

Not sure how the clubs like the one in the movie actually work? I thought there was supposed to be no touching? The only time I was at anything close to similar in the US was at the last NY Hustlaball in 2014, and a couple guys dancing were letting guys give them quick sucks. But I figured it was just because they're more lax at gay events.

I agree Mike Barrett. I also thought Constance Wu was equally as good as J Lo.
Finally streamed this movie last night. I was blown away by Jennifer's performance. IMHO, it was her best work since her big screen debut in 'Selena'. My one nit is that the movie was too much a star vehicle for Lopez, arguably at the expense of the underlying story and the rest of the cast, particularly Julia Stiles. I liked many of the directorial/editing choices made by Lorene Scafaria. Allowing the audience in on the audio during the wiretap scene was a masterstroke. Constance Wu made the most of what she was given to work with. Her best scenes were when Lopez wasn't on screen. Overall, I give the movie 6 out of 10 while singling out Lopez's performance as stellar on several levels, especially that damn pole dancing sequence. Madeline Brewer also stood out to me in the role of Dawn by providing just the right amount of comic relief.

I agree completely. Depending on the field, I could see some Golden Globe, SAG and possibly Oscar attention for Lopez. This role is her at the height of all her powers. If this doesn’t get her award season attention is going to need to go the frumpy/ugly route to get noticed.
