My family just saw Matilda at The St. Louis Muny. Im actually from London and had the fortune of seeing her when she was in previews for Mary Poppins so I had high expectations (bc anyone who can take on A Julie Andrews role and not only not have everyone hate them but rather think her performance was wonderful) is pretty amazing...
She did not disappoint with the limited songs Ms. Honey has to sing in the show. We have tickets near the orchestra and you could hear everyone behind us basically audibly gasp when she sang—and I know we arent from broadway or the West End, but weve had some incredible talent from each (in this show alone we had Ann Harada, and Beth Malone among others).
Ms. Kellys voice is just so outstanding and she stands out as a wonderful actress.
(My 6yr old daughter ended up more excited to get her autograph at the stage door than the Mattea Conforti who actually played Matilda (not that she wasnt great too...) and LMK (who I wasnt even sure, being someone of her stature, would come to the stage door at this kind of show), went right up to her and and in complete genuineness, overly thanked her for coming to the show, took the time to answer questions and signed her book.
But I do know it can be a hard road for a soprano to cement their road in musical theater these days.
So what I was wondering is....does anyone here in the know know if she had any projects in the works?
I know she was in Finding Neverland, which we didnt get to bway to see while she and Matthew Morrison we still leadingbut I was just curious.
Two . Not sure what Austen’s Pride is exactly, though.

Laura Michelle Kelly is a gem. Not only does she have a lovely graceful presence onstage, but she is a very talented vocalist. I have always been impressed, when listening to her on cast recordings, just how EFFORTLESS her gorgeous singing sounds. It just seems to flow out of her in the most organic, elegant way. Not only that, but she is also able to switch between vocal registers with immense ease and fluidity, more so than almost any other Broadway vocalist I've heard. She just glides between chest voice, mixing, and head-voice like it's absolutely nothing.
