Just wondering from those whove seen it. If there was any chance Hercules would go on broadway. Which is what Im trying hoping for. And then polish the show up a bit more with a bit of grandeur

I didn't see the show, but from all the feedback, it really does not seem like it could. Very community theater-vibe apparently, which is probably great for the show, but is probably not what Disney is aiming for with it's Broadway shows. I still hope does have a life after the Public production, this seems like a very fun show if they allow schools/community theaters to put it on.

I'm less concerned with the possibility of a Broadway bow and more interested in seeing if this production receives a cast recording.

If the plan is just to license the show for schools and community theatres then we may get a cast recording. If they decide to develop it further for Broadway then they probably won’t record it now.

It's a little frustrating that we keep having to go through this, but let's give it another whirl:

This show was conceived, adapted, and produced specifically for the Public Works program. Not only are there no plans to bring this production to Broadway, but the way show is done now, it CAN'T be done on Broadway. In fact, the whole reason Disney even allowed Public Works to do the show is because they had no plans to use the property to make a Broadway show of their own (this was told to me by a very reliable source, though it might be an oversimplification).

And hey, maybe Disney will change their minds and realize there might be money in bringing the property to Broadway. But if that happens, it will not be affiliated with this current production, and there would likely be an entirely separate development period, with a different production team, etc. It could even very well be an entirely different adaptation.

OR they could license out this version of the script, and MAYBE there will be some high profile production that Disney decides to put some money behind, and eventually bring to Broadway. But again, that would be sometime way down the line.

Another possible way we might see this production again is if they bring it back for the annual Public Works slot next year, or some year after that. Kind of a "back by popular demand" sort of thing.

Saw it last night, and it is 100% a Public Works adaptation. This iteration has zero commercial viability. If they do want to put Hercules on Broadway, they'd have to go back to square 1.

They have been trying to expand the Public Works program to other community’s across the country, a high profile title like this would allow them to do that quite easily Great press for The Public and Disney if licensing is the route they chose to take.

Funny thing: Like I said in the other board, my friend knows someone from Disney and they are in fact considering it, but are concerned about their three shows.

Dallas Theatre Center in Texas and the Young Vic in London have each done both Shaina Taub Public Works musicals - I could see them being passed off this material to do it first before it’s done regionally.

If there is any intention to bring this to Broadway, it would need to be reworked and workshopped again. Still see this going the regional theater route, then the rights get released for amateur productions.

A Chorus Line revival played its final Broadway performance on August 17, 2008. The tour played its final performance on August 21, 2011. A new non-equity tour started in October 2012 played its final performance on March 23, 2013. Another non-equity tour launched on January 20, 2018. The tour ended its US run in Kansas City and then toured throughout Japan August & September 2018.

Definitely not this version. As mentioned, this is a Public Works production. There are too many elements factored in that would make it highly unlikely. Maybe we'll see a version further down the road, but right now, I think this is the only staged production we will see for a while.

Considering Tom Schumacher recently said he is knee deep in the BATB revival and we also know the Mary Poppins revival is coming to the West End soon, I'd say one of those is more likely to open on Broadway before Hercules. However, I wouldn't mind seeing them develop a theme park version of Hercules.
