MR. SATURDAY NIGHT is one of my all-time favorite movies. And I think Jason Robert Brown wrote the decade's best score for BRIDGES OF MADISON COUNTY. But I wonder if Billy Crystal intends to play the lead, Buddy, as he did in his film? I fear he's a bit too old. Perhaps the story will be reworked to fit his senior persona. In any case, I'm in!

I haven't watched it in a while but it feels like at least half of the movie is him playing an older comedian at the end of his career. If he decides to play the lead, I think he'll be able to handle it but I'll have to pull out my VHS copy to doublecheck.
Buddy Young, Jr, at the end of his career playing a gig at a Jewish Nursing Home. "Hey, a bald headed man. What are you, a Jewish Mr. Clean. Hey, TWO bald headed men. Put your heads together and make an ass of yourself."
To his brother Stan played by David Paymer who just moved into a nursing home:
"Do you have friends here?"
"Yeah, you get a choice of friends or cable. I took the friends."
"Over cable???"
I really hope they keep those in.
