Hey all! Assassins is my favorite musical and I was wondering if anyone knew where I could find it on vinyl? I know its a fairly niche show, and I've checked all the obivous places (Ebay, Amazon) and came up with nothing. I don't care if it's the original cast or the 2004 one, just hoping to own my fave musical for my record player!
It seems the last Sondheim show released on vinyl was Into The Woods, so Assassins was the first to just go to CD. In a world where musicals now are getting vinyls (like nothing against Mean Girls, but idk how much those demographics overlap enough to have that album be a vinyl), Assassins came out at all the wrong times. And unless the upcoming Doyle production is a huge hit or revival is happening soon, I don't think there will be a vinyl for the show sadly.
I could be wrong on this but if memory serves me correct the OCR for Assassins was a DDD release. (digital recording, digital mixing, digital transfer) so any record pressing most likely won't bring out any analog nuance found in the original recording.
