I’m just so happy that Esparza has fully embraced his return to the NY stage. We was gone for what felt like so long (7 years, wasn’t it?), and now this is his 3rd production in NYC in 1 year.

I haven’t been thrilled by what I’ve seen/read of Rebeck’s work, but I look forward to seeing this anyway.

I had seen it in Williamstown a couple years ago and it was terrific. One of the best comedies I've seen in years. Krystina was great in the role and given the material I think Raul will be very well cast. Too bad Michael Esper won't be available - he was superb in the WTF production. Glad to see it have a life in NYC!

Love Esparza, but I have to admit that Rebeck's name doesn't engender a good deal of faith. To those who saw and enjoyed: are you fans of Rebeck's other work, or did this feel like a departure or improvement?

I am no fan of Rebeck's work since it seems to be all situational without any character development. I thought SEMINAR was a terrible waste of a first rate cast. She observes behavior but doesn't seem to portray what is going on internally.

I think I've been indifferent toward most of the Rebexk plays I've seen in the past. But to be honest, I haven't seen all of them and the most I have seen have been revived at respected regional theaters, and not original runs. That being said, Seared stayed with me - both for its themes and as just a really, really enjoyable night in the theater. It was smart, funny, well-paced, situational andcharacter driven.

I was looking up different off-Broadway shows because I want to actually take my own advice and see things that aren't Broadway. I was looking at Second Stage, The New Group, and then I came across MCC. I read the descriptions of all of their shows coming up and I have to say, I'm really excited for their season.

Agreed; they've got a really compelling-sounding lot this year. Hopefully the productions live up to expectations!

Really looking forward to this production. Did anyone happen to attend the Work in Progress event at the Guggenheim? http://www.playbill.com/article/guggenheims-fall-2019-works-process-series-to-preview-joe-iconis-musical-metropolitan-operas-porgy-and-bess-more

FYI, they've been converting some of the $37 front-row preview seats from accessible to standard, on random dates.

Okay so I was at the first preview of this last night.

This is a four person play and there is not one weak link. They're all incredible, have great energy and feed so well off of each other. It was only the first preview, and I feel like maybe there is some tweaking, but this is honestly one of my favorite things I've seen at MCC. Raul Esparza...I truly do not understand how that man doesn't have a Tony yet. And my favorite may have been W. TRÉ DAVIS, but honestly?I definitely recommend this play!

Jumping on the bandwagon, I saw this last night and LOVED it. It is my favorite new play I have seen in a while. The cast is uniformly excellent across the board and the characters all fully realized and complex. It’s funny, it’s touching and it’s thought-provoking. I have not seen Rebek’s other work but she really does knock it out of the park with this one. My only critique is to make sure you eat beforehand because this show will make you hungry, since they cook with real food throughout the show. Get your tickets now before reviews come out because I suspect this will be a huge hit.

That's an easy one. Whenever he was nominated, people voted more for the other nominees.

It’s almost sold out as it is.

Very sold out through early November but now that it has been extended to December, there are plenty of good seats available for the later performances. Only about 130 seats in that theater, so if this gets good reviews, there won't be much room to spare.

The set is a kitchen at a restaurant. I think all of the appliances work--the stove, sinks, fridge, etc.

What’s the running time?

2hrs 15 mins. The set is a working kitchen and they do cook food during the show. It smells like seared salmon and garlic. Also to anybody sitting in the front like I was, you're gonna get a cramp in your neck because the stage is a bit high.

Other than that, this was a great show with fantastic performances. I'm glad I got to see it in such an intimate and unique setting.

Got a last minute ticket today and it was the best $61 I spent on theater in a while! I really enjoyed this fresh, original production and very talented, hard working cast! Also, the theater itself is amazing. I can't wait to see The Wrong Man in a couple of weeks.
