Forbidden Broadway Returns For A Limited Run |
Would like to see this. I saw one years ago. Have a few of the cd's. Not crazy about the 2 drink minimum.
The likes of Frozen, The Cher Show and Beetlejuice will also lend themselves to plenty of laughs. However, some aspects of them will be harder to parody. We have all heard our fair share of “Let It Go” parodies - will “Let It Blow” bring anything unique? Alex Brightman’s tendency to break the fourth wall as Beetlejuice makes parodying him harder (how do you expose the flaws of someone who is already self-aware?) but there will be plenty of opportunities to exaggerate this trait or put it in a more unusual context...

Agreed. I was on the fence about buying tickets to this show, and that was the deal breaker.

Same with me.
How exciting that its coming back. Have seen so many different versions of the show over the decades. First time was in 1991 at The Triad and there was a 2 drink minimum, as well as other venues that it has played over the decades. In 1998 it was downstairs, next to the Winter Garden Theatre, right next to Ellen's Stardust Diner. We had dinner at the venue where FB was playing before the show, so the 2 drink minimum was waived, if I remember correctly.
During most of its off-Broadway run, and locations over the decades, there were always 50% tickets at the TKTS booth. I can't imagine that this would be any different. A 2 drink minimum is really no big deal.

It is to those who don't drink alcoholic beverages.
If you purchase seats through TDF, typically the drink minimums are waived at most venues. Look for the show to pop up on TDF and scroll down to the bottom of the description page, then look for a message to see whether your 2-drink minimum is still applicable.
I saw Ruthless! at the Triad a few years ago and my tickets through TDF did not come with the required minimum. (Although, of course, I bought a drink or two anyway. I mean-- if you're saving a good deal of money on the already fairly inexpensive tickets, why not have a cocktail? (Also, a 2-drink minimum usually includes soft drinks. The I-don't-drink-alcohol excuse is rarely a valid one in this case.))
I don't drink alcohol - never have. I just order 2 Cokes.
Again, it's no big deal when you factor in the discounted ticket, and the money you are saving. Have a nice drink and enjoy yourself.
