Courtenay Collins - Question#1
Posted: 8/21/19 at 8:17am
Ive been chatting with her on and off on insta for weeks now. She is so SWEET. She lives here in Atlanta where I subscribe to The Alliance. I really would like to ask her to go for a meal before one of the shows there to just pick her brain. She said shell be seeing Becoming Nancy. Would that be wrong of me to ask? I was going to offer to donate to a charity of her choosing but idk idkkk...

I would honestly just mention it in passing. Don’t make it a big thing, and definitely don’t offer the donation (not that charity isn’t great, but that very clearly draws a line in the sand about whether you’re an acquaintance or just a fan). Just be sure to come off as casual and low pressure, and if she says she would rather not, then be cool with that.

Courtenay Collins - Question#3

If she's going to see a show, it's an evening out for her in her home town after being away for a number of months in New York. I'm sure she'd really rather just relax over a nice dinner before the show with whoever is going with her or even by herself than be peppered with questions by a fan. Obviously, I don't know the specific interactions you've had with her but in general, fans interpret the kindness of a celebrity's willingness to respond on social media as "hey, we're friends now!" when she's just being nice as I'm sure she is to a number of people. If you're an aspiring actor and you genuinely have questions for her about acting and are not just fanboying, maybe ask her if she'd be free to meet for coffee sometime and see what she says. It's a lot less intrusive than asking someone trying to enjoy a night out if you can infringe upon their dinner.

UncleCharlie's advice is good, I think; don't connect it to a show but casually suggest meeting at some point to talk about acting and the profession in general if you feel like you've established a rapport through your IG conversations!
