Hi everyone,

A bit of random request for the internet boards here. Does anyone know if there were updated ensemble parts written for the Rocky Revival in 2000? It doesn't appear to be and curious if anyone else might know?

I have a hodgepodge of items that have been gathered throughout the years, but like the show, it seems to have evolved over time.

Thanks for your help!

Yes, the entire score was re-orchestrated and vocal parts rearranged, however when you license the show you are given lead sheets instead of full charts so there is no “set” orchestration to the show. Every version is different. If you listen to a couple of cast recordings you will immediately notice the differences.

This is not entirely true. The licensed ROCKY HORROR is NOT the Revival Version of the show. You receive the revised tour that went out after the show first opened.

The scores have recently (within the last 5 years) been typeset, and are NOT lead sheets. You receive the original orchestration, (Keys, Synth, Guitar, Bass, Sax.). I've seen the old parts and they were not lead sheets either. So, that comment is odd to me.

Until maybe 2003, as far as I know, American productions were sent a handwritten set of lead sheets from the original London production. After that, they briefly licensed the 2000 revival version with a few changes, before sending out a sort of "based on no production in particular" typesetting with a five-piece band. I have written band parts and vocal parts for a larger cast version as well, enabling the use of some of those big studio-style harmonies you hear in the movie or Roxy recordings.
