I recently saw Aint Too Proud and it was amazing but three women sitting right next to me kept singing really loudly and CLAPPING along to the music and at one point stood up and danced. Not only that but they also pulled out their phones and recorded parts of it. Ummm... thoughts on people singing along at shows?

During the off-broadway revival of Rent, some girl next to me was singing throughout. I had to tell her that I'm sorry but I can hear her singing, she then stopped but it was awkward for both of us for the rest of the show. It killed the show for me. I get that you're a fan and I LOVE singing along to musicals *in the privacy of my own home*, but gurl I didn't pay $80 USD or whatever it was at the time to hear you sing RENT.

"It’s the fractured quality in [Bernadette Peters'] singing voice and line readings that puts across the character as someone for whom resentment is sliding into madness." - NYtimes on Follies (2011).
