The encore/bows are the only time where the cast (well, really just Zidler) encourages the audience to sing along. The rest of the show is not a singalong unless someone decides to be a jerkface and sings anyway.

My husband is a good enough sport for tagging along...just didn’t want to put him in a 2.5 hr torture chamber at the Hirschfeld.
When I went there was lots of singing along. Not the whole time, but plenty of it during the big numbers. My audience was not shy about joining in on the singing and dancing.

Ugh. Hate audience participation at Broadway shows. Just doesn’t seem “classy”, even if the show isn’t. Not that MR is either, just don’t like the idea of hearing my seat neighbors all around me belt out songs when I paid big money to see the folks on stage do that.
