Just got back from seeing the movie, and its a good movie, not quite shot for shot but most of the iconic shots are there. The dialogue is very different aswell, and because I am a fan of she stage version, its always odd to think you are following on with the dialogue and all of a sudden its totally different. but it was enjoyable except for 2 minor things. for some reason the audio level was very low compared to the trailers that came before, but that might be an issue with my cinema, also the aspect radio was off, like it was not taking up the whole screen as most movies do, which i thought was very odd.

But back to the soundtrack, it really is a shame they didnt use some of the stage songs, for example, there was a PERFECT setup for Endless Night, the scene was set perfectly for a number to be placed here. Shwdowland however would not really have worked where it is in the show because in the movie where shadowland is, is all about Nala escaping the pride. Also Scar does not try to make her queen like in the show. I guess too my favourite number, He Lives In You, could have also been used, they cut all the dialogue about the past can hurt and running from it etc.

I'm not crazy about the score but I think the OCR was extremely well done.  Heather Headley and Jason Raize were superb vocalists and I thought the additional songs and African chants were very effective.  I haven't heard the new recording so I make no judgment, but the original will be hard to top.

I'm sorry to hear this because many of the songs added for the stage show were superior to those in the original film.  "Endless Night" and "He Lives in You" were welcomed additions.  This is unfortunate.

I went and saw this tonight even after hating the soundtrack.. my friends wanted to see it and I had nothing else to do. I'm glad now that they didn't include "Shadowland" because honestly this movie doesn't deserve it. It's a soulless cash grab worst of all it's just plain boring.

The only part of the soundtrack that made me feel any real emotion was "He Lives in You," which is apparently played over the credits.

I am not a fan of the stage show but "Endless Night," "Shadowland," and "He Lives in You" are fantastic additions to the score and not including them was a mistake.

Jimmy, what are you doing here in the middle of the night? It's almost 9 PM!

I know it would NEVER happen, but how great it would be if there was an 'extended version' released on DVD with those songs, lol, one can dream.............
