Maybe I'm imaging this but wasn't there a thread early today about a closing date for Frankie and Johnny?

Am I crazy or did it get deleted?

You may still be crazy, but it did get deleted. But it was more about reading tea leaves of when discounts were no longer applicable to guess when it might close. The subject line made it sound like news, though.

I don't even think this board hates speculation, but I could see that post being taken as fact by some people, even as it's barely even a rumor. Honestly, if it's going to close that soon, why even post it, just wait until tomorrow to find out

The thread was deleted. In my experience, they do that when an actual announcement is coming very soon.

Do the mods really know that much?

Press releases come with publish dates. Many are for "immediate release", but not all.

present tense closing announcement press releases never come in advance of the company notice.  Sometimes there are what I would call fake announcements which are really about selling tickets for the coming months. Those are usually tipped as exclusives, usually to the Times. My guess is that any takedowns are about fake news. @Jordan I think the correlation you observe is accurate, but I think it's because usually the tea leaves are correct.

In my experience, a closing notice is deleted because it's true and not yet told to the company. I once posted a (now infamous) closing notice that was taken down because the box office was telling brokers and buyers but the company hadn't been told yet.

Yeah, a thread of mine got deleted about Be More Chill closing before it was formally announced (the mentioned the photo I posted was doctored, but the closing date turned out to be true, what do I know?). I think they don't want there to be false news out there.

I wrote the original post and thanks for confirming that it was deleted.

I tried to make it clear that it was an observation (I put a question mark on the subject line), and also wrote in that the post wasn’t made with ill intent (I was actually a huge fan of it.)

Didn’t think the mods would get their panties in a bunch over it, but I should come to expect that
