no character drop songs? |
They were very much on Google play so I am sure they're elsewhere too; I saw few of my iTunes user friends post on twitter with lyrics, so presumably they're listening to the new batch. Look them up by song title, they're still not under the Hadestown OBCR album umbrella which makes it tricky. The recording, as before, sounds glorious.
I ordered the recording from iTunes. I got a half-dozen or so songs and a note saying the rest would be available by the end of July?
Does anybody understand why HADESTOWN is being released this way?
I honestly cannot figure it out. It's confusing, frustrating and annoying. I think the majority of people want the entire album so they can listen to it in its entirety. I couldn't care less about these character drops. This is not the way to release an album. Ugh.

Anais Mitchell told me on twitter that they basically found they needed more time for mixing and all that
i think it’s actually kind of a fun modern way of releasing the album for streaming

YES..... they are taking the time to mix the album properly to make it sound good, rather than rushing it which could lead to a less than stellar quality

AGREED. I would have preferred them just release everything to be released at the same time than do these annoying "character drops". It's a silly idea that doesn't do anything.
You know that you can wait and listen when the whole album is released, right? Just because you don't want to hear songs in drops doesn't mean that anyone else wouldn't want to

With 40 songs to mix, I think they wanted to balance catching some of the excited post-Tony sales with getting it all ship-shape. I'm happier with the drip-drip release than I would be with waiting until the end of July for the whole thing. It you're not--here's an idea--wait until July to buy it.
Amazon messed up the release, and ended up giving me a credit so I can buy the newly released songs individually since they wanted to charge me even though I preordered. It does seem most retailers don't know how to deal with this.
They are on Spotify and someone has made a playlist where they are putting all the tracks in order.
