There was a "Galentines" press event tonight. We should expect some interviews and performance clips tomorrow. There are some brief clips of "Someone Is Waiting" on Twitter, and I really like what Lenk is doing it with it. She is also singing in the same key as Rosalie.

Quality of the recording not the best but it is clear that gurlll can act a song!

"You can't overrate Bernadette Peters. She is such a genius. There's a moment in "Too Many Mornings" and Bernadette doing 'I wore green the last time' - It's a voice that is just already given up - it is so sorrowful. Tragic. You can see from that moment the show is going to be headed into such dark territory and it hinges on this tiny throwaway moment of the voice." - Ben Brantley (2022) "Bernadette's whole, stunning performance [as Rose in Gypsy] galvanized the actors capable of letting loose with her. Bernadette's Rose did take its rightful place, but too late, and unseen by too many who should have seen it" Arthur Laurents (2009) "Sondheim's own favorite star performances? [Bernadette] Peters in ''Sunday in the Park,'' Lansbury in ''Sweeney Todd'' and ''obviously, Ethel was thrilling in 'Gypsy.'' Nytimes, 2000

I agree. Not many actors can pull off hand gestures and movements like she does, she also did a lot of that in TBV. Elaine Stritch was another expert at acting a song with her hands.

I think she sounds fantastic and I love her interpretation. What a unique performer, I really can’t wait for this production.

Stoked for this. It’s a shame Rosalie Craig has not transferred but I know she has a young daughter so I understand.

Finally, the official cast photo shoot is released to EW. It includes commentary from Marianne Elliot. They all look amazing.

Also, “Another Hundred People” has been changed on Broadway to reflect the feeling of being single and trying to find love on dating apps.

The pictures are cute and really like what Elliot’s saying. We see so many updated revivals it shows that feel very forced, but everything I’ve seen/heard of this take on Company feels natural. I wasn’t aware of how they switched the dynamic between Jenny and David until I read this, but hearing of it I now think it’s a very smart idea. The changes reflect modern day but still feel very true to the original source material.
Company is one of those shows that hasn’t aged poorly due to some very strong writing in both the score and libretto, but it can still feel a bit outdated at times. I specifically remember going with a group to see a college production and one person was talking about how it was the most sexist show she’d ever seen in her life. I’m not quite sure how she got to that conclusion, even if you see the show as being sexist, there’s definitely more outdated works concerning gender, but the point still stands that some will think the show doesn’t fit modern times, and it seems like this production has gone out of its way to do so.
For the record, that college production wasn’t exactly good, so maybe the poor performances in it might’ve influenced her thought on the show and emphasized what she saw as sexism. I personally don’t find the show offensive when it comes to gender as the men are equally as flawed as the women.
Anyway, I’ll be interested when this version of the show becomes available to amateurs. I think a lot of people will jump at the chance to do it. I also wonder if some productions will try to combine elements of the original and the new version. As someone who hasn’t seen the new version yet (but I’m seeing it soon) I don’t know if they’ll be able to do that or not, but I guess I’ll find out once I watch this production.

This is quite a significant change, but it is good to hear that they are doing something that might fix the awful staging of that number, which in my opinion was the weakest part. Also, the large company letters look like they are going to fill the stage a lot better than the cheap Company neon sign during songs like "Being Alive" (assuming it is used then). In addition to replacing Craig, it honestly sounds like this revival is improving on the London production. I have high hopes.

In terms of sales, it's hard because sometimes it can be difficult to gauge if telecharge is fully transparent about available seats and in some cases they disguise it. But if it is transparent, it's looking like this show will have a solid start - add some great reviews, positive word of mouth and some Tonys and I think there is a good chance it can make a profit!!

I hate to bring down the mood, but is anyone else not really excited for this? I was thrilled to hear of a high-profile revival but then casting got me down. Was not a big fan of Lenk in TBV, and her rendition of Someone Is Waiting really did not work for me.

That might be a little disappointing if you're not a fan, but I suspect the 'whole is greater than the sum of its parts' - and with so many scenes and songs by the supporting cast (including LuPone) you will probably still have a good time even if you're not a fan of Lenk.
