HADESTOWN - which songs? |
hak5 said: "With this Friday's HADESTOWN song releases ... which tracks will be released?"
My guess is:
Chant
Papers Intro
Papers
How Long
Chant Reprise
Lover's Desire
His Kiss, The Riot
Friday, July 12 – Songs related to the characters of Hermes, the Fates, and the Workers Chorus
Friday, July 26 – Songs related to the characters of Orpheus and Eurydice
Ugh, I can't wait for the whole album to be released.
I also need some kind of deluxe album situation where they release the missing tracks from the NYTW album. I know that they had to shorten it for logistical purposes, just let me buy the whole thing digitally!
I really hate the way they're releasing this.

Well, at least you can't say that the Hadestown people aren't keeping the anticipation up.

I’m more irritated than anticipated.

Totally agree. I won’t even listen until the entire release is available, which still gives me a month to enjoy it before seeing the show.

Yeah, it seems pretty random. I would've been kind of fine with them releasing a few songs EVERY week until the album's official release rather than every few weeks.
"We Raise Our Cups" and "His Kiss, the Riot," were posted on Theatermania today.

I would buy the **** out of a deluxe album from NYTW. I'd love to hear that version in it's entirety. Even if it's just a digital album. So stoked that we get Raise Our Cups this week. I'm hoping for Wait For Me II, but I wouldn't be surprised if they left it for the workers or for the last drop.

Well to be fair, their initial interaction is the best part of the song

Me too.
Only diehards like me and presumably you are waiting around for these....everyone else who was momentarily interested has moved on. Seems this was not a business decision but a stupid decision. I don't get it, but they don't care that much about maximizing the Tony interest so whatever. Their call, their thing. Their moment to do with it what they will.

Out this Friday to hold us over
I have to say, while some of the rewrites for Broadway I really like, I much prefer the previous “His Kiss, the Riot.” I am not a fan of the new lyrics in that one, and I think it lost a bit of its power because of them.
Just give me "Doubt Comes In" already!

Well, the new songs are posted on iTunes, there are only about 5, but they won’t download with my preorder.
I believe the next Character Drop of Hermes, the Fates, and the Workers Chorus is this Friday. Any ideas what songs we'll be getting this time around?

Plenty of new audiences are seeing the show every single day. If they like what they see, they'll buy the album. I don't think missing songs will make them hate the show or anything. I have bought albums two-three years after having seen a show. I have done it few minutes after seeing a show. There's no "it has to be this way" when consuming music.

Just looking at the track list and the artists listed for each track, one can make an educated guess that we will probably get:
Road to Hell
A Gathering Storm
Chant
Way Down Hadestown II
Nothing Changes
Word to the Wise
Doubt Comes In
Maaaaybe Wait for Me II, but I feel like they will save that for Orpheus/Eurydice
