In addition to Mrs. Doubtfire, I've heard credible rumors that Secret Life of Bees is also eyeing a spring Transfer. And potentially Six as well. So we will have original scores for sure, but it will be light year and we will almost certainly have plays nominated in that category as well.
I mean the last 4 years or so, there have been 8-12 new musicals every season, so this is from 1/2 to 1/3rd of what this season is going to be. Imo people are really jumping the gun when it comes to no original scores just yet. The shows carolinaguy and Hamilfan2 mentioned, plus The Flamingo Kid is said to transfer after Hartford. Then again, we could also have Once Upon a One More Time and Chasing Rainbows possibly coming this season too, so who knows what the first musical to have an original score this season will be.
What’s in development that I think *could* be ready by this season: Devils Wear Prada, Playing Nancy, The Notebook and Nancy Drew. I also think Ride the Cyclone has a chance of transferring.
In our millions, in our billions, we are most powerful when we stand together. TW4C unwaveringly joins the worldwide masses, for we know our liberation is inseparably bound.

The Flamingo Kid got mixed reviews at Hartford Stage, but it’s been touted as Broadway bound. The team and cast behind it would lead me to believe that too.
Bull Durham supposedly has new life.
In the “maybe” category, I think we could add in Marie, Dancing Still and Chasing Rainbows. I know both aren’t dead.
I think it may be considered a play with music, but a new score, nonetheless, but Phylicia Rashad is supposed to direct a new production of Charles Randolph-Wright’s Blue.
I could be wrong but I think when Starlight Express won, it was the only original score, but I would be truly surprised if there weren't at least two original scores this year. Though it would be funny if there were more play scores than musical scores.
I'd love to see Marie, Dancing Still make it in this season. I'm anxious to hear the score. I say this every time but I still don't like the title. Couldn't they just call it Dancing Still?

Are you talking about the 87' Tonys? Because Les Misérables won that year

That makes a lot more sense haha. Then again, only 4 musicals came out that year, two of which were revivals, so I assume that was just a really crappy year for Broadway.
