The songs mostly seemed like less exciting knock offs of other songs. Characters just say zany things in order to be surprising. Motivations are very questionable. Emma doesn’t believe Alyssa that she didn’t know, even after dating for a year and a half? Seems like that is only to keep the plot going into act two. I liked all of the actors playing the “Broadway actors” but the roles were SO one-note. They each have one joke or trait that they lean on for the entire show. Like they have Beth Leavel, who is amazing, and all she gets to do the entire time is repeat the same jokes about being a narcissist. I thought this show was just so low quality, I can’t believe the way people talk about it so glowingly. Very bad writing."

I wholeheartedly agree with everything you posted.

Not that this is an indication of anything: but I rushed Be More Chill for the Wednesday evening show. I was the second person in line until 3 other people came right around the time the box office opened. I sat second row center orchestra in the “Squip Zone”. They even gave me one of the commemorative pins.

As an afterthought, I walked over to The Prom and waited in a rather long line. I was able to get a ticket in the mezzanine.

I love the Prom!! It was my favorite show this season and I am so sorry it's closing on Aug 11. They should have gotten best musical Tony and not Hadestown.

Personally, I thought that was the most affecting scene in the show, and it's the point at which I began to take it seriously. I was in center orchestra row B, and it was quite moving to see that all the gay boys in the ensemble had real tears in their eyes during that number.

Why would they get a Tony for something they didn't earn?  Hadestown is more creative than all of other nominees put together.

I saw The Prom last night and was glad I caught it before it closed; I thought it was a very sweet show. There was also a surprise wedding onstage after the show, which was really special to witness.

This is closing too soon. Sales have picked up this summer and it's doing much better than all the other shows that are closing soon. Some may say it's simply a rush to see it before it closes, but I think the netflix movie announcement and casting helped create interest in the show.

Took my mom to see this on Saturday afternoon, and it was nice to see It packed end to end in the orchestra, it's getting a really nice send-off... will be there with friends one last time for the penultimate show.

Agree, it’s been a notably tougher ticket lately than it has been in months, more than just your typical closing bump. Would have been nice if they’d tried to get to January, but c’est la vie.

Add me to the list of people who are surprised how strong is closing out. If I had to guess producers definitely have contemplated an extension, but the show bled so much money over the winter and spring, that they can’t afford the risk. Remember that the production had an angel investor cough*mr*cough*murphy*cough* loan the production $5 million dollars just to run through awards season. I’m happy for all involved that their little show that struggled nearly its entire run, is playing to packed houses its final two weeks of performances.

well today will be a bitersweet day, I really hope this show gets sent out surrounded by all the love it deserves.  The show was not perfect by any means, but it meant allot to young people and the LGBT community (and it was a fun outing at the theatre, if thats ll you were looking for).  I can't remember the last time I felt so emotional about a show closing, but I can't wait to see what they have planned for the Broadway Flea Market next month.

P.S.  The final performances 30% off at TKTs ($133)

I rarely see shoes twice, but I got last minute ticket for yesterday’s performance and the energy was insane—Beth Leavel got a standing ovation after The Lady’s Improving—so I can only imagine what today’s performance will be like. I so wish I could be there.

Got a $133 ticket but all TKTS has is obstructed views. I’ve seen the show 3 times for $50 through TDF so felt it evened out, plus agree I’ve never felt so sad about a show closing...wanted to be there one last time.
