No glimpse of Zero Mostel in Fiddler doc trailer? |
What footage of him doing the role exists that they could have licensed? The library at Lincoln Center has a copy of the revival he did. Do they license footage?

That is a good question. I don't know what they license. But I can't imagine that someone somewhere doesn't have any more footage. They at least had super 8 cameras at the time. Someone somewhere must have home movies. SOMETHING.
I saw Mostel in the original and also saw his replacement (or one of his replacements) Herschel Bernardi who I thought was just as good if not better. But Steven Skybell as Tevye in the Yiddish Fiddler is giving a performance equal to theirs, in my opinion. Definitely worth seeing!

Great . But back to Zero..
I still love the story, whether it's aprocyphal or not, that upon hearing that Norman Jewison was trying to get in touch with Zero's son Josh about the movie version of Jesus Christ Superstar Zero responded with "why don't you tell him to call Topol's son?"
