I agree. The Biden campaign has already distanced themselves away from Amy, so it's a wrap on her for 2020. I love Kamala Harris, and Stacey Abrams, but he may chose Liz Warren. I think Stacey would be popular with Southern, African American, and female voters, so I hope she's the pick.

Val Demings and Tammy Duckworth are also reportedly in the running. I admit I don’t know all their histories, but I think either could be great choices.

Either Demings, Duckworth, or Michigan's governor Gretchen Whitmer would work in my book, provided Duckworth meets the eligibility criteria.  She was born in Thailand so Biden's team would need to beat back another birther movement.  Also, all their husbands (and exes) need to be thoroughly vetted so there's no last minute surprises.  New blood is welcomed.

Yeah, Amy Klobuchar is definitely in my TOP THREE.

Yes, new blood is always welcome. Ive heard rumors that Trump is going to drop Pence for a conservative female that his base loves over the summer. I hope it's not true.

Anyone who can make people excited enough to actually vote blue this year? I am all for it.

I think it should go to Harris - if anything, this moment calls for Kamala in particular.

Although I love Whitmer, I think the VP slot has to go to a woman of color, and preferably a black woman. I voted for Biden, but I think he needs an enthusiasm push - and a signal to the communities of color that he doesn't take them for granted. Without them, he would have been DOA.

I've also heard that Clyburn is pushing for a black woman - as he should, serving as the catalyst that arguably revived Joe's campaign. I think Amy is completely wrong for the moment, and she should have publically withdrawn from consideration. Let's remember that whoever Biden chooses will likely be the de facto leader of the democratic party in 2024, regardless of who wins this cycle.

I'd vote for Stacey Abrams in a heartbeat. I'm in Atlanta and I voted for her for governor in 2018. I still hate it that she lost.

Amy would be a big mistake because she won't bring in anybody who isn't already voting for Joe to begin with.

As you all know from a former staunch Bernie supporter (not a bro) I have felt so comforted by Joe’s words recently and all his actions. I still don’t love the man, maybe it speaks for my desperation for any leadership, but, he’s showing it and I am thrilled. Politically speaking I think he is crushing it.

While I need to do a tad more research, Val Demmings is my choice right for VP if I were to choose.

Precisely. Could someone explain how a VP candidate in the exact same ideological lane as Biden helps turnout? This is a genuine question––I see a lot of folks float moderate running mates and I don't see the advantage it gives the ticket come November. I think Biden needs a more progressive running mate who could help attract Bernie supporters who are (so foolishly, dangerously) contemplating staying home.

In my mind, Congresswoman Karen Bass of CA would be the consensus pick.  Her record is certainly progressive on several levels.  And she hails from a relatively safe congressional district.  I'm growing wary of Biden naming any sitting Dem Senator as his running mate.  I love the timbre of  Karen Bass' speaking voice as well as her regionally-neutral accent.  She doesn't read overtly wonkish, schoolmarm, pedantic, or scripted without diminishing her competence in any way.  And like Mayor Pete, she has a way of distilling fairly complex issues into relatable terms for a broad audience.

^ Cool idea. I'm a Californian who's a big fan of Karen Bass as well. But the Veep nominee needs to be someone who adds passion and fire to the ticket, and for me no-one excels at that more than Stacie Abrams.  My brain may favor someone analytical and dry like Kamala Harris, but my heart is all in for Stacie, and in this election I think the heart should lead.

Yesterday, Stacey Abrams was talking about the police shooting in Atlanta where Rayshard Brooks was killed, and she said, "A man was murdered because he was asleep in a drive-through. And we know this is not an isolated occurrence.”

Some intellectual honesty would be nice too.

Rayshard Brook's killer was just charged with felony murder. Seems pretty intellectually honest to me.

Whether the murder charge has merit or not is irrelevant to the point.  If a murder indeed occurred, it wasn't because the victim was asleep in a drive-through.  If you want to fuel negative bias, stick with your vision of what is and is not intellectual honesty and keep displaying it.  Unreasonableness begets unreasonableness.  You will succeed.

^ You've just gone and confirmed my point-- Stacie Abrams would add passion and fire to the ticket!

I outright disagree with your assessment that she lacks intellectual honesty. But that aside, she isn't someone who is carefully analytical in her statements; she is a fierce advocate for the underserved who need a louder voice in the system than they are getting. She would mobilize an army of disaffected young voters who were behind Bernie and who might otherwise sit out a battle between two septuagenarians. And she would revive the commitment of the black voters of all ages who would have been underwhelmed by a Biden/Warren or Biden/Duckworth ticket. I don't see any other veep candidate as well-placed to light the spark for a huge Biden victory that Stacie Abrams would light.

Unreasonable passion and fire was my point.  I think we have found common ground, indeed.  But you're sure that's a good thing?

I had no sooner posted than it was announced that he is instead writing in the name of a conservative Republican.

Tons of wins for progressives last night. AOC held on to her seat. Eliot Engel was taken out despite high profile endorsements. Carolyn Maloney proved that she is not safe. Still tons of absentee ballots to be tabulated. I have high hopes Charles Booker will be able to move ahead.

Here’s to November and Shahid Buttar taking out Pelosi!

Lol. Pelosi has the safest seat in Washington. She won over 70% of the primary votes in March.

Most new sources consider Kamala Harris the front-runner of the veepstakes and note that Abrams has been silently cut from consideration.

With all the conversation about having a woman of color being VP, I think it’s telling that Warren is remaining in consideration. An all 70s ticket is not a good look.
