Senator Harris is "out". I became less impressed by her campaign as the days went by, but she definitely has a place in American politics and public service. Thanks, Kamala!
Harris comes off very cold and lacks that likeability factor. She started off strong but fizzled out. One less now. Hoping the next debates have only 5-6 candidates.
A Chorus Line revival played its final Broadway performance on August 17, 2008. The tour played its final performance on August 21, 2011. A new non-equity tour started in October 2012 played its final performance on March 23, 2013. Another non-equity tour launched on January 20, 2018. The tour ended its US run in Kansas City and then toured throughout Japan August & September 2018.
You all know how I feel about Biden but that was a pretty damn good ad. Showed how the entire world is laughing at us now, hopefully some independents/centrists can see that ad and just realize the damage Trump has done to us around the world and our standing in world politics. Pretty well done and concise for a 60 second advertisement.

That might be good ad but it is easy for anybody running against Biden to use youtube clip below of Senator Booker and Senator Harris laughing at him in a debate. See below.
For a political junkie these are good times. There seems to be a turn on our best candidates Bernie and Warren, they can't overcome the Socialist label and that's a death knell because of brainwashing, That's the tale, well don't care too much who the nominee is, we're going to win.

I suppose if people enjoy the twists and turns as different candidates take the lead in the polls only to be replaced by other candidates, that might be pleasurable for them.
I do think it’s debatable that Sanders and Warren are our best candidates. I do agree that calling them Socialists is an easy way for people, especially Republicans, to dismiss them. Of course, Bernie started it by calling himself a Democratic Socialist. My main problem with them is the math for their plans doesn’t add up. Still, I know no candidates actually are able to implement all or even most of their plans once in office. I do wonder if either is capable of the kind of compromise that most leaders need to do get their laws passed. Both would still be a million percent better than the current imposter-in-chief
I do think it’s prematurely optimistic to say we Democrats are going to win the White House back in 2020. The party and liberals in general are so divided right now, I think it’s going to be 2016 all over again. We only have a chance of winning if we vote all for the eventual nominee next November. I think some healthy fear that Trump wins again is our best tool to win, but I’m not optimistic. People who support Warren/Sanders may not support Biden as our nominee. People who support Biden may not vote for Warren/Sanders. And, like it or not, there’s still a whole swath of America that won’t vote for Buttigieg, either because he’s gay or because African Americans don’t trust him and/or due to his limited governmental experience
I fear that just like the Brexit vote was a precursor for Trump’s 2016 victory, this week’s victory of the Conservative Party in the UK is as omen of 4 more years of Trump.
In a nutshell, I’ll vote for whoever the eventual Democratic nominee is.
And I hope that in contrast to 2016, that liberals won’t post negative articles on social media about Democratic candidates they don’t support. We now know most of those articles are the product of Russian troll and bot sites. Let’s not do Russia’s job for them.
My motto leading up to the 2020 election: More Fear, Less Optimism.

I know, I know. After the results came in, I started praying that the Tories' victory not be a harbinger of things to come this side of the pond. And I'm no longer even a religious person. The Atlantic has an interesting take on the demise of Britain's Labour Party, and Jeremy Corbyn in particular. Surprisingly, my own 80 year old dad, who in the past could have schooled Archie Bunker in misogyny, is a firm Amy Klobuchar supporter.
Javero - I love Amy. She’s pragmatic, has tons of governmental experience, and she’s tough. If she is still in the race when Oklahoma has their primary, I’ll probably vote for her, but sadly I don’t really think she’s got a shot at grabbing the nomination.
Digging up a month old op-ed sure doesn’t help those waters from muddying.
Anyways, I’ve been at my wits end with Bernie supporters who attacked Hillary Clinton and Elizabeth Warren for long ago Republican affiliation— and then cheered his endorsement of Cenk Uygur. And then applauded his rescinding of said endorsement. Maybe we need a candidate with a cult of personality to win in 2020, but it doesn’t seem healthy.
I can only take Cenk in measured doses. At times, he turns into the left's version of Rush Limbaugh with a more extensive vocabulary. In the clip linked below the turkeys eviscerate Pete Buttigieg suggesting that he was "bred in a lab to be a politician". IMHO, Mayor Pete is one of the most intellectually honest politicos in recent memory. I really wish he runs for governor of Indiana some day. Cenk of all people should understand that a person's political views can evolve very much like his own.
Post #189 is filled with all kinds of sexism from referring to our former Secretary of State, former First Lady, and Democratic nominee for President of the United of States as a b***h and calling her shrill. I don’t want her to run again either, but I’m not sure why we have to sink to that language. Just another example of how divided Democrats and liberals are that they will attack our own rather than saving our attacks for the opposing party.
Sanders is running on the same gimmick he did four years ago and couldn't beat Hilary. The Sanders base needs to stop attacking other Dems and get over it. He's not winning the nomination this time either.

Obviously, this can change drastically over the next 11 months but to continue to opine that Pete will never win and state it as "fact" is ridiculous.
I don't know what tiny corner of the USA you live in, but I can say that it's a FACT that he won't win in 2020. If you honestly think America as a whole will vote for a gay man....you should really get outside your neighborhood and travel. It's not a ridiculous statement, you thinking he could win next is. Do your research, he is popular among two VERY specific kinds of Americans, neither of which secure nominations. Want to know who does? Working class and African Americans. He's got nothin. I'll be sure to bring this up next Summer when they announce the Primary candidate........which won't be Pete.
SabreLady,
My comment regarding Epstein was not directed at you, it was directed at the person who was complaining about you on this thread (idiot with Groff). Who made a joke about Andrew Andrew and made a sexual joke about the Epstein rape scandal. I have no issue with you.

I don't know what your level of education is but have someone whose opinion you trust explain to you the difference between a strongly held opinion backed by annecdotal data and what you think voters will and won't do and a fact. Are the points you raised that limit his chances valid? Sure. Do I think he's the favorite? No, but once again and for the last time, with the first primary still several months away and not a single vote having been counted, there are no "facts" about who will and won't be the nominee and your doubling down on claiming it to be a fact just makes you look even more silly than your initial comment did. As far as getting outside my neighborhood and traveling, thanks for your advice about broadening my horizons but as it happens, I've traveled all over the world for business and pleasure and have seen more of it that you have and I know THAT is a FACT. (See what i did there?)
@ModernMillie3 Lots of folks thought it was a fact that a black man could never be President. Even more people thought that it was a fact that a dumpster fire like Trump could never win. You may be right that Pete won't win. But I wouldn't be surprised if you were wrong. Facts ain't facts until they happen.
Art has a double face, of expression and illusion.
A reminder that the next Democratic Debate is tomorrow (December 19) from Los Angeles. On stage, from left to right: Yang, Buttigieg, Warren, Biden, Sanders, Klobuchar, Steyer.
