Kelli O'Hara OUT of KMK 5/26 |
That's nice that ticket holders are notified that she's out. It could be due to illness, or a scheduled day off, or anyone of a number of reasons. I'm sure MM will be wonderful in the show. I saw it earlier this month and loved it. Enjoy.
I love me some Kelli and she is glorious in this role..but I have seen Marissa in a few things and her voice is outstanding! I have a feeling she is brilliant in the role and singing it beautifully! So glad she got a chance to go on and shine. If I knew in advance I would have went.
I may incur of the wrath of the internet hordes when I whisper in your ear that the past participle of "go" is "gone", as in: "If I knew in advance, I would have gone." There are other oldsters out there who may thank me.

I, for one, thank you!
More of a lurker here who doesn't get to see too many shows, but I thought I'd mention that my family was at Kiss Me Kate yesterday. Bought as a Christmas present so my mom could see Kelli O'Hara -- her favorite Broadway performer -- we were obviously disappointed when we got the phone call and email on Sunday morning after we had already arrived in the city. However, not living close to the city, there wasn't much choice we had other than to see the show with Marissa McGowan.
While my mom was hoping to see Ms. O'Hara, even she had to admit that McGowan was pretty impressive in the role. Vocally, she was anything but disappointing. On the acting side of things, I had read on the boards that some felt Kelli didn't quite land the comedy aspects of things here, but I thought Marissa did just fine especially for what (I believe) was her first time taking on the role. The show itself was a bit bland as many on this board have said. The second act lulled and the convenience of the ending was laughable. However, the choreography was simply fantastic and almost worth the price of admission alone.
I’m just hoping she’s in the show next Sunday.

Why would it make sense to not tell people in advance and just email patrons that day?
According to this tweet she was back!
