He starts in July and runs for (I believe) six weeks. Ticketing info hasn’t been announced as far as I know.

I am praying I get a ticket. Have never seen him live and his music was a part of my life and brings back tons of memories.

I am of that era and love his music, saw live once and is extremely generous in his performance.

He is almost unrecognisable by his photos. his choice, but am sure his voice will be just as joyous.

I envy those who will see him.

Do you think this will be hard to get a ticket for? Years ago when he was on Broadway it was a hot ticket.  But his residency in Las Vegas (which is about to end) is always on Groupon for $39.  The last two times he has come to my city, he was in a smaller (3500 seat) venue.  The last time I saw him was about 4 -5 years ago in our arena, and got a ticket for $25.  But if you have never seen him live, go.  He still sounds great.  He just has been doing the same show for years.  Which wouldn't matter to you, since you have never seen him.

It makes me feel old wanting desperately to see this. I dont care.. I wanna.
If we're not having fun, then why are we doing it? These are DISCUSSION boards, not mutual admiration boards. Discussion only occurs when we are willing to hear what others are thinking, regardless of whether it is alignment to our own thoughts.

Hard tl tell. I was actually surprised to see Yanni on tdf. He was hughe back in the early 90's. He sold out arenas so I expected he would do well in a much smaller house.

Yes, I will be happy to see the show he has been doing! And God knows i played that live album to death. I am sure the show changed since then. And i will definitely go by myself.

SweetLips22, yeah he has obviously had work done but you can still see Barry in there!

Per Michael Riedel:  "The last time he was on Broadway, in 2013, he sold out every show."

Per the actual grosses:  He averaged 73% gross potential and 81% capacity last time he was on Bway (for 5 performances a week). So you'll probably be ok waiting to buy a ticket til the week of.

There were rush tickets that were pretty easy to get last time for like $40. He spends most of his time front stage center, so not even an issue.

My concern with seeing him anymore is that Vegas has really got him to deliver a perfect 89 minute show (since Vegas doesn't want any show to go past 90 minutes), but it just seems so tight and specific, I've seen him do gigs with multiple years in between, and it always feels like the same thing. It's a good show, but I'd prefer to see him mix it up a bit more.

Not a sell out at all. I remember getting a TDF seat third row center for like $30 something dollars. It’s a very fun show thou

Did he have good attendance in vegas?
I remember back in 2013 he had to cancel a few shows (we had to reschedule twice.)

It's a good show but it's the same old damn show that he's been doing for years ~ years! I bet we get the show he's been doing in vegas on Bway and just switching around the order or so but who knows as he's finishing up his vegas show then right to BWAY next! If you haven't seen him live you should! He'll sell out most of the 6 week run.

I saw him during this time, his performance was originally canceled in Pittsburgh and canceled. For the rescheduled performance, the night before he was VERY sick and talked about being sick at that show. My mom and I were driving down and we were sure he was going to cancel, he didn’t but we were able to see the worst lip syncing we ever saw. He doesn’t usually lip sync and I’m sure it was only because he was sick but ooof, it was horrible.

What's the outcome of someone who is obviously lyp syncing? Can you get a refund ? Do you have to 'prove' it. A lot of ads say, which I think is stupid--'live, in person'.

Manilow lyp synced the opening number when I saw him 30 years ago but then continued 'live'-or I think he did.

I certainly wouldn't sit through an obvious mimed performance, good or bad, I paid for live singing.

If the excuse is that they can't do all that dancing and sing as well, then you know what has to go.

SweetLips22, Most,  would say they are singing live.  What they would not admit to is relying on a vocal supporting track that they are singing along with.  So in their minds, it is not lip syncing.  But in reality the majority of vocals is coming from the supporting track.  Most artists are so good at it, that unless there is a malfunction, you wouldn't even notice it.  Some aren't that perfect and can occasionally spot them, when they get behind one or two notes.  Then, you have people like Britney Spears, who just doesn't care.  And her fans don't seem to care.

I've seen him twice in the last few years in an arena.

Two different shows with a lot of the same hit songs, of course. At one point, he just started talking to the audience and said that he had a tickle in his throat and was stalling while he tried to clear it.

After a few minutes he said he would try to sing a slower song but if he cracked, he would stop.

He made a point of saying "there's no lip syncing here." So, who knows?

He was so good, we swore he was cheating but he changed enough notes and tempi that he clearly wasn't.

Now, Cher, on the other hand, lip syncs her whole show and you pay $200+ for the "privilege."

Now, about those Manilow on Broadway ticket prices....

I saw him with three other friends when he toured through Oklahoma City in the 80’s. We mainly went because one of our friends was a super fan (her other favorite artist was...Kiss). I had one or two of his 8-tracks (yes, I’m old) and cassettes mostly when I was in junior high, but now I was in junior college and had largely moved on to “cooler” artists, but he put on a damn fine show. He was/is quite a showman.

And yet, the majority of concert goers insist she is singing live and her voice sounds "the same as years ago"

LOL

A few years ago at Barclay's, Cyndi Lauper opened for her. Big mistake. Cyndi sang live & was as good as I've ever seen her. Then, Cher came out faked everything but the old stuff (and that was pretty bad).

As for Barry, he didn't sound exactly like he did 40 years ago, but he sure sounded great for a 75 year old man.

Saw him perform at MSG a few years back right after his hip surgery. He stayed in one spot for most of the night but he sounded great. If the price is right, I’ll definitely go see him again.

The pre-sale started today and the last 4 rows in the Rear Mezz are $119 and that's the least expensive in the theatre.

Six rows back in the Rear Mezz is $249.

The whole Front Mezz is $375.

Orchestra tops out at $499, from what I can tell.

That's insane.

Meanwhile Yanni is $18 on Stubhub for tonight ((sigh))

Agreed! I'd want to know if he lip syncs even 1 song or partial at these performances - that's a deal breaker for me at any of the above mentioned pricing. Will have to wait for reviews here or elsewhere before I shell out that kind of money.

Amazing how fans can be delusional -lol. I am a big Paul McCartney fan and I think he had one of the great rock and roll voices of all time. All you have to do is go on you tube clips over the years and sadly see how shot his voice is now in comparison to his hey day.
