Looks like Dallas's AT&T Performing Arts Center announced their 2020/21 season today. Apparently, there's a new tour of Sister Act going out?

I’m pretty sure that’s a regional production of SISTER ACT, not a tour. I believe ATTPAC teamed up with Dallas Theatre Center a few years ago for a production of HAIRSPRAY, so this may be a continuation of that partnership.

Regarding Sister Act, my contact at the ATT PAC says that it's a touring production. The Starlight in KC is also presenting the show the week after. And, according to my contact there, they are co-producing the production with a few others across the country. So, I'm guessing it's a limited tour.

Yeah... this makes more sense in my mind.

Dallas Theatre Center uses the Winspear for many of their productions, all of which are viewable on the ATT PAC website, but if I recall correctly they have always just been recognized as one of the resident companies' productions and never really included in the Broadway series. There's nothing about Sister Act on DTC's website.

The Pittsburgh CLO is also performing Sister Act this summer (July 21-26), so it may be part of the same limited touring production?

This is so strange. How is there literally no information about this production/tour?

Houston's Theatre Under the Stars is set to announce tomorrow at 10am. They typically produce most of their season but sometimes bring in one or more tours (ONCE ON THIS ISLAND this season, for example).

Anyone have any intel on their season?

There’s been zero auditions or anything regarding a touring Sister Act. Interesting it would be touring this season. Seems just an odd time with the Whoopi one in London.

Houston's Theatre Under the Stars just announced:

1776 (pre-Broadway ART production) - 9/8-9/20/2020
ROCK OF AGES - 10/20-11/1/2020
DISNEY'S THE LITTLE MERMAID - 12/6-12/24/2020
SOUTH PACIFIC - 2/9-2/21/2021
SISTER ACT - 4/6-4/18/2021
SHOW TO BE ANNOUNCED IN MARCH - 5/18-5/30/2021

They typically self-produce most of their season. I assume that SISTER ACT is the one that is popping up on some other season schedules around the country.

Has anyone heard anything further about the announced tour for The Ferryman?

Waiting for this too. Wouldn't shock me if its a limited tour and only hits a few major cities for 6 months or so. We shall see, really hoping it still happens.

From the article speaking about the tour, it listed the following as the cities "in talks" to have a tour:

"Producers Sonia Friedman and Caro Newling say they’re in discussions for engagements in Boston, Charlotte, Chicago, Cleveland, Dallas, Hartford, Los Angeles, Minneapolis/St. Paul, San Francisco, Schenectady, Seattle, Tampa, Toronto, Washington and other markets."

I believe Dallas is the only city to annouce their seasons so far...so it's a wait and see.

Really hoping LA gets it as that would be easiest for me. If it goes to SF, I'll do a weekend trip. If it's neither of those (which I doubt), I'm hosed, lol.

Ya I'm worried since this wasn't a tour announcement per say, more so "were trying to negotiate a tour!" that we aren't going to get one. Dallas does have multiple venues hosting Broadway tours though, so we shall see. Tampa is announcing soon I believe, so we should get a better idea of how realistic it has a chance to tour is then. Tampa tends to get decent shows.

LA and SF always struck me as similarly sized markets? If they're going to play one, then I could easily see the other being played as well. (On the other hand, shows that play San Jose first typically don't play San Francisco. And if it's the other way around, they don't come to San Jose until a year or two later).

I really liked The Ferryman, and would happily watch it again if it's part of Broadway SF's season.

Except in most situations unless the producer is renting the theatre outright (rare), shows go to cities because the local presenter books (buys) them, so unless the presenters in SF (BroadwaySF) or LA (CTG or Nederlander/Pantages) both book the show there's no reason to assume playing one means playing the other.

Looks like Detroit is announcing sometime in February. There was a letter in with my DEH subscription tickets saying so.

So I did a little digging into Sister Act today and found out that the one being done in Pittsburgh (CLO) is a local production. Also, from the season announcement video, it sounds like the one at the TUTS in Houston is also being done locally since they have a director and lead already named. Could be wrong...

Regarding The Ferryman, as of this past November, things were still good to go. I do think that it'll be a limited-venue production as it needs to cater to a theatre that will allow it to be shown in its entirety. And, although not as long as Harry Potter, it is a three-hour play, which may not appeal to markets that typically do not present plays to begin with, and who also may not be interested in presenting it as the subject matter isn't as attractive as, say, Harry Potter. However, given its Best Play accomplishment might provide some glimmer of hope. Time will tell where this one plays.

As San Diego office runs both SD and LA, it's a safe to bet the Pantages (sigh, I mean the Dolby) season will include

Tootsie
The Cher Show
Pretty Woman

The others are either this season or Ahmanson.

I hope DEH is a bonus option.  Not that I wouldn't get tickets but it was just here last season.

Hadestown, Dear Evan Hanson, To Kill a Mockingbird and I'm guessing the Prom will be added as well.
