I know the songs she has released from this album so far have all defied expectations. Each time I don’t really like it much at first then after a few listens, I like or love it. So far, I think I like Crave and Future the most actually. I like how she references Don’t Tell Me in Future. I do love the 2 remixes of Medellin.

Jordan, I hate to break it to you, but she has said the concert will be 70% music from this album. We will be there the same night. Where are you sitting?

I just booked my flights. After spending so much on my ticket, I was able to use an e-credit to help pay for my Delta flights. I ended up paying $258 round trip. I’m flying in on Friday and flying home on Wednesday, the day after the concert. I also used some of my Hilton points so my lodging is free.

I’m hoping to see one show on Friday night and two shows on Saturday and two on Sunday. Maybe I’ll explore Brooklyn on Monday. I haven’t seen much of it.

I’m hoping to see:

- [ ] To Kill a Mockingbird
- [ ] Oklahoma!
- [ ] Hadestown
- [ ] Tootsie
- [ ] Moulin Rouge! - they will have Sunday evening shows while I’m there, I believe!!!

I won the honor to purchase tickets. Disappointed. 4 tickets for Tuesday, Sept 24, Row V (last row of right orchestra) They're the last seats I would have wanted. I would have preferred less expensive tickets in the mezz or balcony. I'll be selling mine. I wouldn't enjoy the show from those seats.

Unless you’re accustomed to being super close to her during her concerts, you’ll still be closer than you would be in an arena or stadium.

That may be a more realistic approach than you think.  At least it drops in a couple of weeks and you can judge the entirety yourself.  I had posted an assumption earlier that the concert would be mostly the new album.  Nothing worse than STANDING at a concert listening to songs you hate.

Okay. So sorta back in line with the original purpose of the thread. After I booked travel last night, I went to book my SuperShuttle and was surprised that it’s so much more expensive to take the SuperShuttle to Brooklyn from JFK and back than when I’ve booked before.

Am I better off taking a cab or Uber or a Lyft? I’m going to have luggage (notorious overpacker here) so public transit is kind of out of the question. Am I better off taking a cab or Uber or a Lyft? I’m going to have luggage so public transit kind of out of the question. Thanks.

How much luggage do you bring that you can't take the subway?  A cab is more expensive than Super Shuttle.

Your Uber will be around $40-50, probably, unless you do a shared and then it will be cheaper. I say take the Uber, love yourself a little.

Thanks. The SuperShuttle came to $170+ round-trip including tip. I was pretty appalled since it’s usually like $40 or $50 round-trip including a tip. And yes I’m a proud overpacker and I’ll probably have 2 checked bags plus my carry-ons. I’m not lugging all that stuff through a subway. I’ve done that before and it was torture.

I was so happy to get a fifth row center ticket for Sunday the 22nd of September. Even if the album is a travesty, I am not missing Madonna in a 2000 seat jewel box theatre. NEVER! Even on her worst day Madonna gives 120% to her live performances. She puts a lot of thought in. I sense this will be more theatrical and dramatic.  I have a feeling she will use all stage craft available to her to present her art.

I am over the moon!

This is a happening. I'd never sell my ticket.

Indeed!

To quote Madge:

Not everyone is coming to the future
Not everyone is learning from the past
Not everyone can come into the future
Not everyone that's here is gonna last

I’m 16 rows from the stage in left orchestra. After being so close to her (two rows from the heart at end of runway) at times when I saw her the last time on the Rebel Heart, I’d love to be closer, but like you said, I’m not missing this!

I had decided when I entered the lottery that unless I won tickets in the first 10 rows of the orchestra or the first row of the mezz or balcony, that I would sell the four tickets. I live within walking distance of BAM, It would have been fun, for sure. But I'm a seat snob. Not in a showy, braggadocios way, just in that if I can't sit where I want to sit for a show, I'd rather not see it at all. Besides, I'm sure they'll film it, so I'll eventually see it. Of course it won't be the same as seeing it live, but I'll live. And I can put the money towards my trip to Puerto Vallarta this winter.

Not long ago I would have said the same thing.

But these new songs are so bad. IMHO the worst of her career by far. And every new release seems worse than the one before it. I find Future unlistenable. It made me yearn for Jimmy Jimmy.

I never thought I would turn down the chance to see Madonna in a venue like this but my fear is the entirity of this show will be the new album in her Madam X persona that I'm already tired of.

And her recent Michael Jackson comments were as bad as her new music.

I got tickets for 9/12. Opening night AND my birthday. I'm probably still going to go. But I've seen what tickets are going for on Stub Hub and it definately has me reconsidering.

Obviously I'm a huge Madonna fan so I'm keeping everything crossed I get tickets for London.

As for the new stuff, out of the 4 I like 3. I happen to LOVE Medellin, in fact it might be one of my fave lead singles of hers since Hung Up.

I Rise I also really like, it's a gorgeous song, nothing groundbreaking (though the production is superb) but it's for sure an album track.

Crave I didn't like when I first heard it, with subsequent listens though it's really grown on me.

Future I'm not a fan of, it's catchy and I love the reference to Don't Tell Me, I also like the lyrics and meaning, but the song just feels flat, it goes nowhere. Will be interesting to see how it's done at the Eurovision tonight though.

I'm excited for this era, I think the mini theatre tour is a great idea, the roll out for the album is superb, I though the Billboard performance was great and whilst she's aged out of singles charts now due to radio play, Medellin has remained in the top 20 on the world charts since release.

Looking forward to the album

songanddanceman2 - I’m with you. I will say I like the new songs in almost the opposite order as you.

1. Future
2. Crave
3. Meddelin
4. I Rise

While I wouldn’t say any would rival her biggest hits, I enjoy them more and more as I listen to them. I think they will all work well within the context of the album.

My only regret about my ticket is I’m not closer. I’m 16 rows from the stage l(eft orchestra). But it’ll be infinitely better than 16th row floor seats at a arena or stadium where the floor is flat.

While it is always disappointing to see people dis her and talk about selling their tickets, I actually hope they do sell their tickets. The roll-out for selling tickets was designed so fans, not scalpers or very casual fans, got the bulk of the tickets. I certainly don’t want to be next to people who are sullen and aren’t really fans (anymore). The greatest gift those people can give the rest of us is to sell their tickets to people who are still a fans.

Don't know on dates yet, the set up was different over here in the UK for getting tickets. We find out next week if we have been selected. It will be at the London Palladium though Which Airport? - Madonna at BAM

Luscious, I completely understand. I am a seat snob too. Sometimes I would rather not go to things that go with the seats offered. I actually don't think it makes us a snob, but rather someone is who truly appreciative and knows ourselves well.

Back when Anything Goes with Sutton Foster was a hot ticket and a sell out, I was able to get one last row orchestra ticket day of performance. I was so sad. I wanted to be close to Sutton and see her perform. However, I paid so I sat in the last row and I still ended up being so happy. It did change my mind a little.

As far as the new songs go, I really like them. I was quick to react when they were released and was meh about them, but that was my own issue. I think Crave is so beautiful in its longing. I enjoy Medellin and I Rise. Future is my least fave but of the four, but it's really growing on me.

Thanks Bettyboy for getting me. As I said, it's not in a braggadocios way, it's just that I'm more than a little nearsighted and I need to be close enough to enjoy the show. To all those who won the lottery and are going, enjoy the show! Unless the overly harsh reviews deter her (doubt it), I think her Eurovision performance may be a preview of things to come. I enjoyed it! Don't know what all the fuss is about.

The main fuss is that she didn’t sound good at all. And I’m a big enough fan for enough decades that I feel I’m able to be honest about her and no, I don’t think she sounded good on Eurovision. Singing live hasn’t been her strong suit for a long time though and she’s one performer I actually wish would lip sync sometimes.

OMG...Like a Prayer at Eurovision was a TRAIN WRECK.  By the end of the song, she was in another key.  If there was something more interesting happening on stage, I might have stayed to watch the second song, but it was just stupid.  It's not a new "persona".  It's an eye patch.  And it's dumb.

When I was 15, I would have defended her performance last night (or any night) to the death, the same way Gaga fans freak out over any slight criticism. But a couple decades later, I recognize how silly that was/is. So I get the fans defending it. It doesn’t make it any less worse, though. What I’m just hardcore praying for is that this tour is her on a stool with a microphone just singing. I know the odds of that happening are slim to none, but with her limited ability to move and sing (properly) at the same time now, that would suit her best.

Jordan, I second this. I wish Cher would do this too. I want Madonna to dig deep into the catalog and pull rare tracks and ballads and just sing them. I do sense she is getting too tired to do the big choreo and such. I'm cool with her letting go of that.  The Madame X seems very contrived. She doesn't need a gimmick at this point in her career. Since this act of her life seems to be focused on her past (the GLAAD award, etc.) I feel all she needed to do was tell the Martha Graham story (Martha called her Madame X) and that would suffice for setting the tone for the album. No costumes and eye patches. The eye patch is the silliest thing.

I also hate that she tries to collaborate with anyone who might remotely raise her profile with the young ones. She needs to let that desire go. The young people I know who are into her came into her by discovering her catalog organically and appreciate her career. They don't need appearances with Taylor Swift and twerking. She's a legend.

Plus her hardcore fans (those of us, like me, who bought her first single on vinyl 45) are getting old and can't stand in arenas for hours squinting at screens. I am glad she is going smaller and more intimate.

I just feel like the most radical reinvention she could do is to just be “a singer” and just come out and sing. No choreography, no Niki’s, no Donna’s, no half naked boys or strobe lights. Just a microphone, a band and the music.
