Hi! I am writing to see if you have any suggestions for themed food for a Tony party based on the nominees. I am looking specifically for puns rather than foods mentioned in the shows, ex. last year I did My Fair La-tea, Angels food cake in America, I smell like falafel sandwiches, etc.

This yeah I come up with lots of candy ideas but little actually food ideas....

 

Hadestown: Something hot/spicy

Beetlejuice: "Worms in dirt" or some kind of banana dessert dish.

Tootsie: Tootsie Rolls

The Prom: Punch Bowl (possible spiked)

Kiss Me Kate: A cake with Hershey Kisses on top. Get it? It'll be a.... Kiss Me CAKE!

Oklahoma: Chili and cornbread, duh

Baked (Santino) Fontina Cheese Dip

Entrees:

Kiss Me Kale Salad 

Patrick Sage Sausage Links

Bernhardt/Ham Sandwiches (or just a whole ham if you want to put in the effort)

Drink:

Santino Fanta (I'm sorry, Santino Fontana's name is just chock full of food puns waiting to happen)

Bug Juice (it's like a kid's drink)

Julie White Wine

Desert:

Hades's Food Cake (devil food cake)

Hadestown: Demands a cocktail

Tootsie: Get Tootsie pops so you can decorate them with little wigs or dress them in cloth or construction paper "skirts." 

Kiss Me, Kate: Lilli's wedding bouquet is snowdrops, pansies, and rosemary. Not sure about whether you can eat the first one but you could make a Elizabethan-era inspired floral salad or just decorate an Instagram worthy cake or mixed drink. You could also let "Too Darn Hot" inspire something spicy.

The Cher Show: Some kind of dark chocolate "Dark Lady" dessert

Beetlejuice: The black and white stripes make for easy theming. It would also be easy to get some props from wherever you get your Halloween gear.

Burn This: Something charred

Perhaps arrange some shrimp in the shape of claws as in the Beetlejuice dinner party scene.

Or do black and white icing on oreos and call them Day-Oreo's for Beetlejuice.

I've said "I'll eat my hat if The Prom wins best musical" to enough people that my GF is making a hat shaped cake... just in case I have to eat my words (And a regular one because I really don't think I will)

Trying to find a good Tootsie Roll recipe because that's too perfect. I was thinking some kind of punch, like you find at proms? (Spiked) Prom Punch?
