Ruth - Pirates of Pen. Audition

I would like to audition for Ruth in Pirates of Penzance but am having a hard time finding a song that is "legit" while also being a comedic song. I am a character actress and enjoy doing funny songs but can't find any songs that are a good fit for altos. I am considering "Glitter and Be Gay" but it's for sopranos, and no amount of water and breath control can help me hit that high note. Then "Lusty Month of May" is good but not as funny as I'd like it to be without being vulgar. I am considering "By The Sea" because Angela Lansbury and all but still don't think it's a good fit. Everywhere else I look all the audition songs suggested are for the sisters. So if you could suggest some songs I'd appreciate that!
