I love this cover. I think it captures a moment that is very real and tender. That being said, it'll almost certainly switch over to a production shot for opening night.

I don't understand this Rudin trend. These Playbills are fine for his plays, but they just don't make sense for musicals. He's also inconsistent... Carousel had those horrible Playbills (for an atrocious production, IMO) yet Dolly had gloriously colorful Playbills with the production artwork for the entire run. 

Next year, we can all look forward to a Playbill with Hugh Jackman picking his nose in rehearsal to add to our collections. 

Sigh.

I respectfully disagree. I think these Rudin bills hark back to an era of Broadway where the emphasis was on actors and acting instead of marketing and commerciality. I support this trend and I wish more producers would follow suit.
