I think there has been a thread for every other acting category so here we go! This one is the most difficult for me to decide for musicals. I'm sure of Patrick Page but so many others have been suggested.

The main contenders:

Patrick Page

Andre de Shields

Jarrod Spector

Patrick Vail

Corbin Bleu

George Salazar

Chris Sieber

Ephraim Sykes

Anyone else?

I'm thinking John Behlman from Tootsie will get a nomination before George Salazar or Corbin Bleu. I think Patrick Page will take home the award no matter what though.

I think it's going to be very difficult for either Page or de Shields to win if they're both nominated.  Page has certainly been more acclaimed for his work in this particular production, but there has been a ton of push for de Shields to finally be awarded a Tony for years now (even going back to 1997, if you look at the clip of Chuck Cooper winning for The Life (over Andre), before the winner was announced, multiple voices called out from the balcony "Andre! Andre!"--so add 22 years to that excitement).  So I'm afraid they'll end up cancelling each other out, which is why I think if Christopher Seiber gets in, he actually stands a great shot (another long-overdue veteran in a much-liked show that this is probably one of the only categories they can realistically win).

I think writing off John Behlmann and/or Andy Groteluschen from Tootsie is a mistake.

Tootsie will will likely have 2 of its featured actors nominated. The roles are written with big scenery chewing songs, that nominators and voters love. I'm thinking it will most likely be John Behlmann and/or Andy Groteluschen to get the nominations as they both have show stopping songs, but Rogers could easily replace either of them.

Serious question for those of you on the "Patrick Page already has the award" band wagon.  Besides being a well-liked Broadway veteran, what do you feel he is doing is Hadestown that is award-worthy? For most of Act 1 he sits upstairs and watches, then he comes down for Act 2 and signs a bit in a VERY LOW VOICE.  What else is he doing on the stage that I am missing?

I have the same reservations about Page's chances, too. He's got one of the show's signature songs ("The Wall"Featured Actor in a Musical and makes the most of his bass voice- but at the same time, part of me would not be surprised if he's passed over in favor of Andre de Shields, simply by virtue of the fact that De Shields is a stage legend and, hey, in a crowded category, somebody has to get cut.

I thought Patrick Page was a lock for the win before I saw Andre de Shields in it. I think they’ll both get in which I could definetly see them splitting the vote. I was pretty unimpressed with the Tootsie men, I preferred all the women to any of the men. But there’s so many moving parts what do I know?

I think you need to see the show again if  all you got from his performance.was that he sits upstairs watchinf and then signs in Act 2 in a low voice.

He was mesmerizing and nuanced. He reveals layer after layer of his character and shows that while Hades is a god, he is still flawed and struggling just like everyone else.

My prediction is

Andre De Shields
Patrick Page
Ephraim Sykes
Patrick Vaill
Either John Behlmann or Andy Grotelueschen... I honestly can't pick.

But either way I think De Shields takes the W.

My guess is it’ll look something like this:

Patrick Page

Andre De Shields

John Behlman

Patrick Vaill

Corbin Bleu

Page is going to win, but if anyone can take him down, it’s De Shields. They’re both highly respected veterans who got raves in what’s likely going to be the biggest musical of this season. While a split could be possible, I don’t think it’s gonna happen simply because no one else has even close to as much hype as the two of them. Again, De Shields could win, but I feel like people are more passionate for Page’s performance. He’s been doing this role for years, his character is arguably the best written in the show, and it’s one of those parts where it’s really hard to imagine anyone else doing it.

As for the nominations, I could see Reg Rogers or Andy Grotelueschen getting in over any of the non Hadestown actors. As of now, I have Behlman in because I’ve heard more about him than the other supporting Tootsie actors. Based on that, I think he has the best chance, but I wouldn’t be surprised if one or both of his costars got in over him. I’m certain at least one Tootsie actor is going to get nominated even if I’m not entirely sure which one

I’m hoping for a Spector surprise. I thought he was a lock for a nomination but this is such a crowded field. The changes they made from Chicago to Broadway didn’t help him but hoping they recognize him.

This is going to be a crowded field. Saw Hadestown, Oklahoma!, Kiss Me Kate and The Prom and Patrick Page, andre de shields, Patrick Vail and Corbin Bleu all very deserving.

I would love to see Corbin be recognized, but I’m also guessing George Salazar over him or a ATP cast mate.

The Tony rules do allow for an expanded category if there's a two or three-way tie for the final nomination slot. It could expand to up to 7 nominees, and this is probably the most likely place we'll see that happen.

Saying this right before noms come out could blow up in my face but I’ll say if: I don’t believe the George Salazar hype. I think most of his momentum is just because he’s a fan favorite. We will see

Rogers is giving one of the funniest performances I've seen in a very long time. VERY much hoping for a nom for him!

I do think there are a lot of ways this could shake out. The only two nominees I think are locked are Patrick Page and Andre de Shields. Ephraim Sykes is, in my mind, next in line. I can't imagine Oklahoma not getting in here, so Patrick Vaill should be safe even if his performance is one of the more divisive of the show. The Tootsie men may cancel each other out leaving room for Corbin Blue or Jarrod Spector or George Salazar or Chris Seiber to make it in. My money is on Salazar to sneak into the final slot.

Page, de Shields, Sykes, Vaill, Salazar: final prediction!

I agree...George is really "overrated" just  a fan favorite and not really deserving in this crowded field of others far more deserving of the nomination.
