Strangely specific question about Broadway sippy cups

You know the ones. Would anyone who has one be able to tell me if there are any markings or etchings on the bottom, such as a product number or city of origin? Thank you in advance!

They have brand names from the manufacturers, dishwasher and recycling info, and sometimes a model number or the manufacturer’s website. But they’re not all the same.

My understanding is that the first show to use them was the Lion King, so I assume the answer is, people with some empathy for the custodial staff. And it turns out that adults spill drinks too, and that people are willing to pay more for a drink if it comes with a souvenir.

But by all means, let’s have another debate about whether reusable plastic cups with lids are a good idea, or whether refreshments should be banned in theaters, because no one is tired of that argument...

I think you have rather brilliantly managed to misinterpret every single thing in my post, so let me make it more clear for you.  What moron came up with the NAME "sippy cup."  I'm not talking about the cup itself and what it does, I'm talking about the juvenile, baby name someone gave this and the fact that adults now use it.  I mean, SIPPY CUP.  C'mon.

I just checked the bottom of my ones from Hamilton and Phantom (couldn’t be bothered digging at the back of my cupboard for others) and they were both made by the Lika Cup Company, which is based in New York but the cups are made in China. The website is www.likacup.com

Yes, because of all the things wrong in the world (or even Broadway World) what the OP referred to as a "sippy cup" is worth going nuts over.

I believe the concession stand/business named them lidded souvenir cups.

Mine are all Lika or Whirley as well.  The Lika are the white ones with a nicer logo and the flip top lids, the Whirley are the clear ones with a text logo and a twist opening lid.

The first time I ever remember hearing them referred to as "Sippy Cups" was in the HEDWIG revival. John Cameron Mitchell as Hedwig, during part of his play with the audience in the middle of "Wig On a Bix," said something about them putting down their "$75 Sippy Cups" and joining in the Sing-a-long. Don't remember if Neil Patrick Harris said it or not, but I do remember Mitchell doing so. I thought it was hysterical and a perfectly "Hedwig" thing to say. So now I call them that in honor of Hedwig!

While I truly don't care what they're called, when  first heard of them I believe you're right in that they were deemed "souvenir cups".
