Mayor Pete |
I really enjoyed it. Two Rhodes Scholars sitting down and having nuanced policy discussions while sharing aspects of their personal stories. I much preferred her style to Lawrence O'Donnell, who I thought was actually going to start drooling while Mayor Pete was speaking.
I enjoyed the interview a lot. It was two very smart people having a great conversation instead of just a basic interview I've seen on a lot of shows.
Ps. I am a fan of Mayor Pete
I'm a fan of Mayor Pete, too. I'm just not yet convinced that he's got the sheer cold ruthlessness that's going to be required to be effective against the absolute EVIL of the Republican Party.
Yeah. That is why I am looking forward to debates and all of that and see how he holds his own and what makes him stand out. But, I think he is doing a good job at what he is doing. I like how he actually answers the questions presented instead of round about or complete side tracking of what was asked.
I also like how he barely mentions Trump. This election should not be about Trump or what ridiculous nonsense he tweets. It should be about offering a legitimate, alternative vision for the country. And I think Mayor Pete is doing the best job at that so far.
They were saying that he is appealing to upper class white liberals and that if he wants to be a serious contender he is going to have to cultivate the black and Hispanic vote.
That's true of everyone (Biden to a lesser extent). It's not just a Pete thing. If anything, those numbers are more dire for Sanders. He's had nearly 100% name recognition and years to cultivate support among black and Hispanic voters, and has barely made many gains.
At least Pete still has room to grow as his name ID continues to increase.

i’d advise whomever the nominee is to change the rules rather than trying to beat Trump at Trump’s game.
I really like Mayor Pete but Super Tuesday, the Following Tuesday, Uncle Joe, Uncle Bernie, and Kamala Harris are huge obstacles in his path towards reassembling any semblance of the Obama coalition. The first two Tuesdays in Mar are chock full of contests in states that have sizable evangelical Christian voters of all stripes. Ronald Rosenstein of CNN has done a much more thorough analysis of the democratic party nomination calculus than I'd ever be capable of. I wish he had explored the evangelical factor in the piece.
The calendar is shifting Democratic influence in 2020 to voters of color
I really liked his answers to the few other questions I caught. I got the sense that he can hold his own against the republicans. I would love a Joe and Pete ticket. JMO
I don't agree with him on everything but he is one of the few candidates who I don't feel talks in sound bites, makes meaningless declarations on twitter to get attention or tries to ride the wave of whatever is popular that day on social media. He seems to give thoughtful, articulate answers as opposed to rallying cries. I would like to see him stop with the shirtsleeves with rolled up sleeves when he goes on talk shows. It comes across like an affectation to me, but other than that...
And the guy who's occupying the White House has given him his official nick-name this weekend: "Alfred E.Neuman" (the MAD Magazine mascot). OK, kinda funny because he does look like him at times...though I always thought he looked more like "Mr. Bean".
I thought he looked a bit like Alfred P Newman too after Trump said it although I thought Pete's response was kind of amusing for he said he had to google who that was and it must have been some sort of generational thing.
In my experience if one comes up with t name for the person giving out names they usually stop doing it. So I vote for Chucky the Clown or Carrot Top.
I really, really like Mayor Pete. I really do, but i just want to like him more to vote for him in my primary. There's just something 'missing' with him, where he doesn't convince me he will win over Chuckles, and can run the country. I would love him in any other position in someone's administration, but I'm not convinced he can be President. I should say, not convinced YET. Prove me wrong, Mayor Pete!
Pete can always run again in 2024. He would not be the first person to try for the White House more than once. Look at Biden.

That's the better play considering Obama will endorse him. A Biden/Harris ticket could actually unseat this goddamn psychopath.
I think Harris would be a great choice for VP as well although she might make a good Secretary of State as would some of the other people running. I do agree that it would be great if some of the candidates would run for the Senate so there could be a party swing. I do think Pete should run again.
