West Side Story revival? |

Any funds brought in after opening becomes a Priority Loan and is repaid ahead of other investors (although often existing investors are offered the opportunity to participate )
I just don’t envision a universe where West Side Story exists without Mr Robbins’ iconic and perfectly meshed choreography. Toss Bernstein’s score while you’re at it
if you want to be fresh and new, go back to R&J and reinvent. As Baz Luhrmann did for his musical film with DiCaprio

Really depends on who the writers/director/producer are. Some teams are more collaborative than others. It also depends on who is the (as William Goldman put it) "muscle" behind the show.
Sometimes, it is also a matter of "we don't have anything better" or "we've run out of time." There comes a time when you have to play the hand you're dealt and focus on making the existing show as good as it can be. There's also the story Manny Azenberg tells about Neil Simon: There was a hemorrhoids joke that was bombing. After a week it hadn't been replaced so he went to Simon: "Hemorrhoids?" to which Simon said something like "don't you think I know it's bad?? I just don't have anything better!"
There was a tweet from Hollywood Reporter re: a cast announcement that was posted and deleted. Only face I recognized in the bunch was Isaac Powell.

I suspect we'll get another 6am puff piece with David Rooney interviewing Scott Rudin about the casting announcement tomorrow or Thursday.

This starts rehearsing in a few months, it premieres in December, a casting announcement should be coming in the next week I would imagine.
And yet still no announcement for The Inheritance which starts much sooner. Powell would work for that too, no?

The theatre announcement is far more pressing. They need to get this thing on sale. The Broadway (if that indeed is where it's going) has a ton of seats and the last revival was only 10 years ago. With the assumption that they're going with Powell-type names who won't help the box office a bit, they could announce the cast in October and it would have the same impact.

That terrible revival closed eight years ago. That was truly horrific. Anyways, yes, if they are casting people no one has ever heard of, they need another angle. I think people will be very curious about the brand new choreography involved. Yes, the theater and ticket sales are key to this since the cast is not.
So the Isaac rumors were true..that casting sounds pretty interesting. The cast reads a lot younger than the previous revival.

So, interestingly, Ben Cook is in the Spielberg film and the revival.

Not sure if anyone can find the original article through this link but it’s worth a shot posting here.

Oh god no. He is probably the worst actor Broadway has seen in years. Please for the love of God and all things good, anyone but him!

He is a great dancer. You need two other things to be in a Broadway musical though so.....hm. I doubt he is Bernardo. If so......damn.
Why did they delete the article though?
^ Probably cause the announcement is supposed to be tomorrow. I like this cast though, Amar is interesting for sure however. Im honestly excited to see where this revival goes its certainly intriguing
At 37, Amar is entirely too old for Bernardo.
I feel like this revival is shaping up to be an absolute disaster.
