I made a thread a bit ago about good musical adaptations, which naturally lead into talking about some musicians or writers that would work on stage. Here's a few I have in mind that I would love to write a show (who haven't already)
John Mulaney, this is practically a given as he's worked on soooo much musical stuff as of like. Still he is perfect to write the lyrics and have someone else help with the music (probably Eli Bolin because of Co-Op). Obvious, but something I want to see
Seth MacFarlane, ok this one I'm not sure how people will feel about. I don't like a lot of what MacFarlane has put out over the past few years, but have you heard his albums? Great singer and great composer. And since we already have a current hit with the South Park writers, I feel at least MacFarlane should have a shot to write something. He has shown some interest in some interviews and and he said "...I'd probably want to do something a little bit more old-fashioned..." which honestly I'm all for, even if his recent other projects don't see as promising.
I would love for Sara Bareilles to write more musicals but I would also be interested in Kacey Musgraves composing something for Broadway. I think her sound and storytelling style could work really well
Lady gaga - yes Cher (But a return) Barbra (a return as well) Dolly Parton
We are talking about vocalist right?
This may be just overly hyped. But I would love to see how well Shawn Mendez can act. I’d love him take on some stereotypical heartthrob role. Or if he can actually actually I would love to see something serious
Harry Styles
I know Olivia Newton John has been known to make cult musicals but I wonder how well she’d played on stage.

I saw her in Vegas like 5 years for about 15 dollars. I was shocked how good her voice was. I thought it would've been shot by now and I never thought she had the greatest of voices to begin with, but she sounded great.

Is she not ill again atm though?"
Yes. At the moment she is.
Though when she is back. I would love to see her return. I saw her and her voice has maintained very well.
I know she's already there, but I'd like to see Anais Mitchell try her hand at another show someday. Perhaps even using some of the more character/storytelling-focused songs from her album 'The Brightness'.
I imagine film composer Dario Marianelli could write a pretty musical score.
Timothee Chalamet is a must for me. I’d love to see Jordan Peele write a horror theatre show as well. Could be incredibly entertaining. I’ve been wanting more horror on broadway anyways but a play would be so amazing by Mr Peele.
While watching Olivia Colman in The Favourite I was thinking how much I'd love to see her do a play on Broadway. I know she's done some theater in the West End but not in NYC.

Yes! Would love to see her try her hand at a musical.
I’d love to see Tori Amos give writing a musical another shot. She wrote the very underrated The Light Princess which ran at the National Theatre in London in 2013/14 and was allegedly going to transfer to Broadway but that ended up not happening. It’d be great to see her do another show for Broadway.
The best singing i've ever heard from a performer outside the musical theatre genre is by Marc Anthony. I'd love to see/hear him perform in a musical with salsa music as the dominant musical style/genre. For that matter, i'd love to hear more musicals with that musical style. Omar Alfanno writes amazing salsa songs with fantastic lyrics - maybe he'd be interested? Or not; I don't know. But i'd love to hear that anyway.
