Sorry if this has been asked, but any word on a 2019 cast recording of Kiss Me Kate?

Thanks!

Why was she recording this song if it wasn't for the cast album? Unless she has a new album coming up that I don't know about.

That recording could have just been for promotional purposes. If that was the cast album session it likely would have come with some sort of announcement.

The recording could have been something they're putting together for Tony and other awards voters.

Roundabout has a generally good track record of releasing recordings for their musicals, and I would be surprised if they did let this one go unpreserved.

I'd say their track record is spotty. I would have liked cast albums of their Threepenny Opera, Apple Tree and Pal Joey and those went unrecorded. A new Kiss Me, Kate cast album would be nice but this seems to be a limited run with little chance of extending due to O'Hara's previous commitments so I think it's less likely we'll get one. On the bright side there is still a lovely revival cast album with Brian Stokes Mitchell and the brilliant Marin Mazzie.

It seems like a waste of time to just be in the studio recording that one song even if it is for promotional purposes- it seems like an interview/performance would make sense but actually recording it seems like a waste of time unless there is some other purpose then just having her rendition out there.

I think (hope) the odds are good. They released a OCR for The Robber Bridegroom. While one can argue there were less quality recordings of TRG, it would seem a travesty to not have a recording of this. Even critics of this agree that the music and singing is beautiful.

Exciting!  I am wondering when the digital copy will be released.  Hopefully sooner than the CD.

The album will be released digitally on June 7 and the CD will be released on June 28. I’m curious as to if there will be a Barnes and Noble concert, but Kelli would likely be in rehearsals for The King and I in Japan.

To me there is no other KMK cast album than Alfred Drake and Patricia Morrison,  the originals and by far the best.  If I wish to hear the score again it's this one.  I won't waste my money and time on any revival album. Sorry.

Why are they cutting From This Moment On again?!!

At least there's a good proshot video of it from the London production on Youtube with Chuck Wagner, Rachael York and Brent Barrett.

It’s fascinating to me Ghostlight recorded Kiss Me, Kate and Beetlejuice, and have seemingly worked to get Kiss Me Kate out digitally on June 7th before the Tony Awards, but as of now Beetlejuice is still slated for June 28th. You’d think the new nominated score (no matter how critically panned) would have taken precedence. Though their website does still say the digital date could change.

According to the website, the Beetlejuice digital release date is now June 7th as well.

I haven't seen this production yet, but is From This Moment in this production or is it just cut from the album?

It's in the production, but like the 1999 revival it won't be on the album.

RE: the question of Beetlejuice album release: I would assume Tony voters received a digital download or an early CD copy of the BJ cast album. Same with KMK, Hadestown, and any other show that hasn't publicly released the album yet. They want to get those songs out to the voters.

Do they give the album to voters? I guess that would make sense, like how they give DVD screeners to Oscar voters.

Yep. Most shows send, among other things, a cast album, a copy of the script, a souvenir program book (or sometimes a bigger book with reviews and articles about the nominees), a list of the nominees, and some swag.

There used to be heavy restrictions on what could and could not be sent to voters, but now it's sort of a free-for-all. There are still restrictions on what campaign materials can be sent to the nominating committee, but I don't think any producer or author would dare break those rules.
