Does anyone know what time your supposed to start lining up for SRO? I was gonna try and get there for 11 on Thursday but im not sure what time to get there now that they changed the policy. If anyone is on line today and knows or could ask the box office that would be super helpful

Exactly!! As long as they are keeping the SRO line the same, then the "safety concerns" logic completely crumbles. Because the logistics and safety concerns can only remain the same, or get worse for the reason you mentioned. Fewer tickets = higher demand = people lining up earlier to try to maximize their chances. 

Also, as I said before - from this thread it seemed like the new policy was mostly successful at getting people to stop lining up overnight. It seemed like most of the time the line would begin in the morning, except on matinee days when the line would indeed begin overnight. But if it's only happening on matinee days, why not get rid of rush just for matinees?

It's virtually impossible to put a rule in place that prevents people from lining up before a given time. I've seen several Off-Broadway theatres attempt policies like that, and it never works. And it's not because people are greedy - it's because the theatres are naive. When a show is in high demand, and they tell everyone that they can't begin lining up until, let's say noon for example (I don't know what the actual time was in this case) - the best case scenario is that a dozen or more people will all arrive exactly at noon, which will result in a mad-dash, and heated arguments over who actually got there first that will be difficult to resolve because everyone got there at the time they were supposed to. Which is a much worse scenario than people respectfully forming an "unofficial" line before noon.

Im on line today. Got here around 11, it’s currently 12pm and Im the first and only person on line. I thought it'd be busier cause the weather is beautiful today but, its just me rn.

I’m going to try the new SRO policy for Saturday’s (8/3) matinee and report back.

Did the box office give you and the rest of the line any prior heads-up about whether or not SRO would in fact be given out at 5PM or were you in the dark until that time?

A few different people asked at different point throughout the day, but they purposely kept us in the dark and only gave us super vague answers. We were just basing it on how many non-resale seats were up on ticketmaster. It showed it was sold out on ticketmaster, but thwy still wouldn’t give us any info. We got no word from anyone until they started taking us inside to buy the SRO tickets

Here on Tuesday Aug 20.  Our group of 5 arrived super early at 11am.  At 12:45, 1 other person arrived.  (So at 1pm there are six total so far.)

Arrived at 9am and am tenth in line. (Wednesday August 21)

 

Edit: By 9:15 14 people are in line. 

Edit 2: 12 standing room tickets were sold for the matinee.

I am 4th in line today at 12:56pm. The 3 people in front of me arrived around noon. A nice breeze is helping mitigate the heat so it’s not as hot as I was expecting.
