Hadestown Rush/SRO Updates #351
Posted: 6/29/19 at 6:01pm
We saw Eva’s understudy on Tuesday - Khaila Wilcoxon - and she was fantastic. Such a powerful voice. I can’t imagine limited leg room seats at the Kerr. We were in the second row of the mezzanine and the seat in front dug into my shin the whole time. It was completely worth it - but those seats had the least legroom of any theatre we went to on our visit.

So, are people really lining up at 4am? Do you know if they were there for the matinee?

I rushed today (6/30). Got there around 9/9:15am, I was ~14th in line. Ended up getting SRO (which they let you sit in any empty seats after intermission starts, so I got a really good seat in the center orchestra). Line didn't get super ridiculous as far as I could tell, but it was also Pride today so people were probably otherwise occupied.

Reporting live from hot garbage city—

It’s 7:35 AM, July 5, on a Friday, and our 14th friend just joined the line. We’re queueing for a 2:00 PM show, and the first arrival got in line at 4:00 AM. The rest of the lineup, as follows:

2-3 - 5:15 AM
4-6 - 6:00 AM
7-8 - 6:20 AM
9-10 - 6:30 AM (myself and a husband)
11 - 6:40 AM
12-13 - 7:15 AM
14 - 7:35 AM

1st girl advised that many people were not aware of this show and therefore the line is shorter than past lines. According to this wizard of broadway, many start lining up at 3 AM—I can neither confirm nor deny this claim, as I avoid Times Square at all given opportunities.

As I’ve typed:

15 - 7:40 AM
16-17 - 7:42 AM

Some people in line have wandered off, but have left their sitting towels.

More to come!

Hi all, I’ve been reading these for a while and decided to finally participate. This is my first post so forgive me if anything’s weird. I’m heading to NYC tomorrow and am going to try for the Sunday 3pm show in 2 days. What are my chances if we get there around 4-5am? I’ll update my experience in line when I go!

It’s been an odd weekend. Three shows are closing, and it’s a long holiday weekend, so folks left the city. That being said, people are also visiting the city.

I rushed ferryman yesterday. They had about 30 rush tix available. The line was about 25-30 deep. First five ppl in line by maybe 7:45-8am

I peeked at Hadestown as I was walking by (I saw it Wednesday night so no desire to rush anytime soon). At 720am Friday, line was probably about 15 deep, which mirrors what is posted above this.

I think If you want to ensure seeing it, bring a book or two, and do it on a day where there’s two performances. Unsure if that is Sunday or not off the top of my head. Take a coffee. Make a memory out of the line experience. I still remember my Hamilton day; it’s honestly a lot of fun if you’re with likeminded theatre goers. Good luck

I'm hoping to rush Hadestown in a couple of weeks, but I'm a tad confused. The website says they start selling rush tickets an hour before the performance, but how early would I need to get there to try to catch the evening performance? Am I allowed to go before they open for the matinee performance and just let people who want matinee tix go ahead of me? Or do I just get there as soon as the line for the matinee is out?

My friend and I are planning to rush tickets on this Friday (July 12), and I was wondering if anyone can suggest when to get there? Also, what time do they actually sell rush tickets (I know it’s 12 and 5, but since there is only an evening show on Fridays will it be 5pm instead of noon?) We have to take the train into penn and walk so overall it’s an hour and a half journey, so we want to make sure we get there before the line gets too long.

I am also planning to rush/SRO on Friday, since there are supposed to be storms, do you think 1:30 - 1:45 would be early enough to get there for the 8 PM show? I did see another poster that arrived at 2:15 after the date of the Tony's and still got a ticket. They also mentioned there was bad weather that day. Thanks for all the help!

Report from the rush line for the 7:30pm show Wednesday July 10 - at 2:05 they told us the line can’t officially start until 2:30. There were five of us at that time and we formed an unofficial line. So there are now about 9 of us at 2:25 with the official line about to begin. First person arrived at 1:45.

I rushed Friday 6/28 (sunny day), got there at 12:30pm and was 4th in line. The line only started really growing at 2-3pm, so you just never know. I thought my wait was relatively short for actually getting a seat (L21) and so so worth it!

Thanks for the details, I've been curious how 2-show day lines work.  Where did you stand while waiting in the unofficial line? While the matinee is coming in, does security move you to a spot away from the entrance? Thanks!

They asked us to move back behind the barricade by the driveway. I got here shortly after 2 so there wasn’t really a line of people trying to get in anymore. Then at 2:30 we could start the line. When it gets close to the matinee letting out they’ll move us over to under the overpass to the right of the theater (when looking directly at the entrance).

Thanks! They gave out L far sides for the first two people and then C far sides for the third and fourth. For some reason the box office got super busy right around 5 so they didn’t take us in until about ten minutes later but they were efficient and the woman in charge was organized and great.

Based on prior posts (especially jwf300’s) and my own experience in line a couple weeks post-Tonys, there’s no real reason to get in line before noon or 1pm on a Friday - it just makes the wait longer for everyone :)

Hadestown Rush/SRO Updates #371
Posted: 7/11/19 at 11:01am

I rushed for the matinee yesterday (Wednesday, July 10) .. we thought that getting there around 4am would secure us SRO seats, but when we got there, we were the first ones there. The next three people (3-5) came at 4:45am, 6-7 came at 6:15am, and 8-10 came at 6:25am. Fell asleep and lost track of the rest. We ended up getting L21 (orch left) and L22 (orch right), people 3 and 4 got front row all the way to the side, and person #5 got the front box seat on the right side of the stage. I think I heard that there was one more box seat, and then everyone else got SRO tickets (not sure how many).

My seat (L21) was alright. It was all the way to the side but it was still good enough! I just couldn't see Hades or anything up on the balcony mostly because of a large speaker, and of course there was a limited view of the left side of the stage (but I could still always see everyone on the main level of the stage). However, getting up at intermission and getting closer to the stage solves that all. My friend in L22 said he couldn't really see the cello and the guitar player, but he could see mostly everything else.

Eva (which was the only reason my friend agreed to rushing) was out for the show, so he was slightly disappointed, but obviously I'm sure it is for a good and/or health reason!

Im planning on rushing next TUE so advice needed on getting there around noon? Would this be safe? Thinking that it’s less busy on tue but not sure? Thoughts anyone?

To those that have gone, is it better to get the rush seats or standing room? I also want to stagedoor after, and I’ve heard how quickly it fills up (also if anyone has any tips on getting to stagedoor quickly, it would be greatly appreciated!).

Second update: the first two people didn’t realize that rush tickets don’t go on sale until 5, so they’re going to another show. They got here at 5am. Now my friend and I are 1 and 2!
