Sara hinted on Twitter a few weeks ago that she’s “working on it” but nothing has been confirmed yet.

I know that London productions with an OCR that have transferred to Broadway have sometimes produced an OBCR as week, especially if the transfer was successful. I’m not sure how many times the reverse has been true. I would think it would be unlikely unless the production plans to play for an unlimited amount of time, which I think will be unlikely. The show has proven to have a “shelf life” over here and I suspect it will in London too although I think it will do well and have a respectable West End run.

I don’t think Sara Bareilles would have hinted at it if there wasn’t a very real possibility, but maybe she was just teasing! There’s a lot of people on social media clamouring for it (although this probably means nothing when it comes to the economics of it all).  I’m praying we get one because I’m loving the London casting so much! I mentioned it in the other thread but Kat McPhee’s vocals are insanely good right now, and both Marisha Wallace and Laura Baldwin (as Becky and Dawn) have amazing voices. The only thing I am not sure even a recording studio can make sound good, however, is Jack McBrayer. Lol

That tweet almost seemed snarky as if she was joking around saying there was already a cast recording out...

I think it’s a strong hint that it’s coming

I bet it’ll be a live recording. A lot of West End cast albums seem to be recorded live these days. At least the quality is significantly better than recent live Broadway cast recordings like On Your Feet.

Not a London cast album confirmation (I wish!!), but here’s a TimeOut stripped back duet of ‘She Used To Be Mine’ sung by Sara Bareilles and Kat McPhee (with Sara playing piano). Enjoy! Their voices <3 <3 <3

She sounds fine - it won't get me into the theatre again to see her sadly. However, nothing to be embarrassed about :).

"You can't overrate Bernadette Peters. She is such a genius. There's a moment in "Too Many Mornings" and Bernadette doing 'I wore green the last time' - It's a voice that is just already given up - it is so sorrowful. Tragic. You can see from that moment the show is going to be headed into such dark territory and it hinges on this tiny throwaway moment of the voice." - Ben Brantley (2022) "Bernadette's whole, stunning performance [as Rose in Gypsy] galvanized the actors capable of letting loose with her. Bernadette's Rose did take its rightful place, but too late, and unseen by too many who should have seen it" Arthur Laurents (2009) "Sondheim's own favorite star performances? [Bernadette] Peters in ''Sunday in the Park,'' Lansbury in ''Sweeney Todd'' and ''obviously, Ethel was thrilling in 'Gypsy.'' Nytimes, 2000
