No. The production says “Hay-deez-town.” That is how it is pronounced every time it comes up in the show, along with Hades the character.

No, it seems to be that the production is pronouncing it incorrectly. Hades is pronounced hay-deez, which would make the title Hay-deez-town, but based on what people are saying, the title is Haydz-town. Yes?
"

For fear that people think there is even a question as to how to pronounce it, the show is pronounced Haydeez.

See video of Rachel Chavkin pronouncing it:

Here is Anais Mitchell pronouncing it as well:

What about it was too close? How high was the stage?
"

The stage is kinda high. during some scenes, Their feet were kinda chopped off but other than that it's not too big of a deal. My head bounced from side-to-side trying to see everything that was happening on stage at once. That being said I agree with Kad that seeing it from the Mez would be pretty good as well.

I will say this was the first time I sat so close that I could see the actor's (mainly Patrick and Amber's) tears hitting the stage during some parts and I thought that was worth the money I paid for the seat alone.

Been listening to the Live Cast Recording for weeks now, and there’s no doubt in my mind how it’s pronounced, but I knew that before even hearing it.

I went back to the comments about the two syllable pronunciation, and I just misunderstood the way they were worded. My bad!

The show is literally about Hades. I'm cracking up that this has even been a debate!

Any further updates on how Andre De Shields is performing in the latest previews?  It sounded like from initial reports that he had a less than stellar night on the first preview.

When I saw Hadestown in London, I really liked his acting and look forward to seeing him again.

During the opening number, I couldn't understand him. I found myself really having to pay attention to actually understand him during his singing parts. The crowd loved him, though. I'm not sure if it's his fault, but there are points that are serious and his mannerisms made the audience laugh. I found it awkward.

Yvanehtnioj, Do you think the problem is simply needing to turn his microphone up? I recall there being some soft mics and similar issues at the National the night I attended.

Anybody sat up in the balcony for this show? How’s the view?
I’m 6 foot and I’m prepared to have my knees squashed for two and a half hours.

I think it was a mix of that, and his pronunciation of some words. During the faster parts of the first number, the words sounded a little jumbled together.

I saw it written on here and had never heard anyone say it until recently. Honest mistake if you don't know what it's about.

I'm about a foot shorter than you so my legroom observations won't help (I had a decent amount, it was pretty comfortable actually), but as far as the view, it's quite steep but I think some of the elements of the show lend themselves well to being able to see from above. I had to lean a tiny bit when they were at the very edge of the stage, but it was actually quite a decent view. Nobody in my party complained about it.

I was at the second preview and thought that he was great—a definite standout for me.

I haven't heard other versions so I have nothing to compare him to, but I thought he was great. My friend who came with me and knew nothing about the show (not even the ending) told me he was her favorite part of the show

I haven't seen Hadestown up there but seen a good number of shows from the Balcony at the Kerr.
I am no small gentlemen by any means at 6'4" In fact im sure ive sat by many a patron in a theatre who think "Help Godzilla is coming!"

However i usually get an aisle and the legroom is just fine not amazing mind you but not as bad as alot of other theatres. (Looking at you St James Mezz!). I do normally try to snag an aisle though so if you can that helps.

For a split second today, Hadestown was up on TDF--snagged a ticket to go again on Wednesday, so will report if I notice any changes!

I liked De Shields very much. I don’t think it’s a particularly showy role but he makes the most of it.

Mezz C 2 and 4. After reading that mezzanine is well suited for this show I immediately grabbed these seats. Now I am looking forward and thank you for all the raves and seat locations ... Cannot wait in Aug.

Alas, I already got my tickets for May, and they're Orchestra Side (C10 and C12, on the right). Maybe that's too close, but I'm excited regardless!

It was at the TKTS booth for $112 from 3pm when they opened and we got 2 together when we turned up at the booth soon after 6pm. Seats were front row left side B3&5. Hardly missed anything from there. Brilliant show. So happy we saw it.

I sat front mezz at first preview and had no trouble understanding De Shields. He was fed a line at one point by an orchestra member, but if you're unfamiliar with the show, as I was, it was hardly noticeable. His was my favorite performance of the show.

After the raves from first preview to now, and seeing the ticket prices sky-rocket, I have a feeling this is going to be the hot ticket on Broadway. Any one else?

How was it at mezzanine? I have C 2 n 4. I so looking forward to this.
