So here in KC MO, starlight theater has announced that the US tour of hello Dolly is coming here at the end of September. However I don't see any dates listed on the official site for the tour pass August. I was curious if anyone knows how long Betty Buckley is contracted to be with the tour? I thought about tweeting her but thought it would be a long shot that she would respond, and a lot of people on the board here really seem to have a lot of knowledge on the goings ons in the industry

I'm guessing, but based on previous tours Dolly may very well go out in September with a partially different cast.  Not certain either, but it might possibly be non-equity by then because KC may be considered a second-tier market.  The overall quality of the physical production should not be diminished.

Like I said in another thread, Hello Dolly is coming to Toronto in March/April 2020. It is in our subscription season, and Toronto's producers never put a non-equity show in thier main season.

Betty isn't named or shown on any of the promos for the show, so I can only guess/assume that a new Dolly will be named, who will take over the second year of the tour.

Its too far out for them to make a promise as who will be in the show a year from now. There are no contracts that last that long (well, mist likely....ive necer heard of a tour or bway contract for linger than a year ) it would take the renewal of said contract, and its too early for that.

No one beyond the first year can/will be advertised by name.
If we're not having fun, then why are we doing it? These are DISCUSSION boards, not mutual admiration boards. Discussion only occurs when we are willing to hear what others are thinking, regardless of whether it is alignment to our own thoughts.

I would love it if Donna Murphy could tour as "Dolly".  From the very short clips I have seen, she is amazing!

"Noel [Coward] and I were in Paris once. Adjoining rooms, of course. One night, I felt mischievous, so I knocked on Noel's door, and he asked, 'Who is it?' I lowered my voice and said 'Hotel detective. Have you got a gentleman in your room?' He answered, 'Just a minute, I'll ask him.'" (Beatrice Lillie)

There was a joke at the Broadway Cares benefit in San Francisco a couple weeks ago that it would be SETA after a year, but I have no idea if that was based in truth.

At least a SETA tour would still be Equity...Cats, Les Mis, and others are out on SETA right now, and those actors can clean up in a big tour city.

Re: Donna, she has never expressed interest in touring/regional theatre, still has a school-aged kid, and is a single parent. I think that's a definitive no. A Nancy Opel or Beth Leavel type would be more likely.

Prolly not, but I’d love to see Carmen Cusack don the red dress coming down the harmonia garden stairs. I’ll be curious if they just replace Buckley with her understudy(who is remarkable by the way) or with another theatre name.
